Chapter 45: Meeting Again
Within this corpse-littered tunnel, this Primordial Beast seemed to have undergone some sort of bizarre mutation that turned its eyes blood-red!
Gazing at it, Bai Ling cried out inwardly:
This turns out to be a sentient Primordial Realm Primordial Beast!
Bai Ling's expression was grim. Having just narrowly escaped death, another Primordial Realm fierce beast had appeared right before him.
This was utterly absurd.
Why was he always the unlucky one?
This was his internal monologue at the moment.
With a sudden bound, Bai Ling dodged the Primordial Beast's mid-air sword strike.
Its pair of blood-red pupils abruptly closed and then snapped open, staring fiercely at Bai Ling with malice. Letting out an angry roar, it slashed at Bai Ling once again.
Thirty meters deep within the tunnel beneath Bai Ling, four figures in hemp robes paused abruptly. After raising their heads to look at the ceiling for a few seconds, they turned back and headed toward the tunnel containing the scarred man's corpse...
Bai Ling let out a cold snort, dodging the fatal blow with exquisite footwork. He slipped behind the beast, and with a flash of lightning at his fingertips, tapped it directly on the back.
Boom!
The Primordial Beast instantly froze, bursting apart with a loud pop to transform into a primordial crystal.
Staring blankly at the primordial crystal in his hand, Bai Ling wondered inwardly: Could it be that lightning is the nemesis of these Primordial Beasts?
Just at that moment, the four figures in hemp robes reappeared in Bai Ling's field of vision, gazing at him with chilling glares.
"Hmph, you really are here!"
"Hehe... We should actually thank that Primordial Beast, otherwise we might never have come back to this place!"
Bai Ling: "..."
He thought he had finally broken free, only for another Primordial Realm Primordial Beast to emerge. The roar of the beast from just moments ago had summoned the four of them right back to him.
"Why is it that you people keep demanding our vital blood and organs?" Bai Ling asked again, voicing the confusion that lingered in his heart.
"You'll find out once you come with us!" one of the hemp-robed men said coldly.
"Do it!" another hemp-robed man immediately followed up.
Bai Ling's eyes sank, his muscles tensing all over. The lingering weakness in his body had not yet fully recovered, yet once again he found himself plunged into a desperate plight.
Looking at the four hemp-robed men, a cold smile crept onto his face.
Boom!
One of the hemp-robed men was suddenly struck heavily in the back by a massive force, stumbling a step forward as he violently coughed up a mouthful of blood.
"Damn it! Who ambushed me?!" one of the hemp-robed men roared in fury.
The remaining three hemp-robed men whipped around, their expressions filled with terror.
At that very instant, dozens of wisps of primordial mist materialized within the tunnel. Every single one of them revealed blood-red eyes and charged directly at the four hemp-robed men.
"No... Impossible! These are all Primordial Realm Primordial Beasts?!"
"Damn it, they seem to possess intelligence and are fighting in coordination!"
The expressions of the four hemp-robed men turned unsightly.
A cold smirk played on Bai Ling's lips. When he had killed the first Primordial Beast with lightning, he was just about to leave when the four hemp-robed men arrived.
Right then, he noticed that dozens of wisps of primordial mist were gradually forming ahead in the tunnel—the exact harbinger of a Primordial Beast's imminent emergence.
Over a dozen Primordial Realm Primordial Beasts, all grasping primordial artifacts, swarmed toward the four hemp-robed men.
Seconds later, a Primordial Beast materialized right beside Bai Ling, launching a ferocious attack against him instantly.
"Courting death!" Bai Ling growled lowly. Lightning flickered at his fingertips, and the Primordial Beast instantly disintegrated.
Gazing coldly at the chaotic battle unfolding ahead, Bai Ling cautiously skirted around the edge. Whenever a Primordial Beast attempted to attack him, the lightning at his fingertips would instantly sink into its body.
Right at that moment!
Hundreds of wisps of primordial mist surged into the tunnel all at once.
Bai Ling's eyelids twitched wildly. What kind of ghost is this?!
He stared in terror at the scene before him, observing their expressions—these Primordial Beasts actually possessed complete sentience.
"Awooooo!"
In an instant, hundreds of Primordial Beasts swarmed out like angry bees from a hive. Every single one of them clutched primordial weapons, their eyes glowing with a terrifying crimson hue.
"Damn it! Why are there so many Primordial Realm Primordial Beasts?!"
"What on earth has happened here?!"
"Quick, run away!"
Three of the hemp-robed men shouted in terrified panic.
Dodging the attacks of the Primordial Beasts continuously, Bai Ling glanced toward the hemp-robed men. One of the figures in hemp robes was already sprawled motionless on the ground.
"Today, none of you are escaping!" Bai Ling said coldly, turning and retreating toward the cave entrance without looking back while evading incoming attacks.
Panicking, one of the hemp-robed men spun around. Upon seeing that Bai Ling was already a hundred meters away near the tunnel entrance, he had no time to ponder how Bai Ling had gotten past them. In the next fraction of a second, his vision blurred as a Primordial Beast wielding a weapon savagely hacked off his right arm.
"Urgh, ahahaha... Damn it, no... I can't die! I'm about to become an outer sect disciple! Urgh..." That man's voice was abruptly cut short!
"Kid... save me! No, ahhhhh..."
"Bai Ling, save me! I swear I won't hunt you down anymore!"
Standing a hundred meters away, Bai Ling maintained a safe distance and watched with cold detachment.
The scene unfolding before him was utterly chaotic. In just this short span of time, hundreds of Primordial Realm Primordial Beasts had appeared.
The three cries for help continued to echo. Bai Ling slowly turned around, offering not the slightest response. As for their promise to stop hunting him down?
Promises were worth less than dirt!
"Save... ahhhhh..." The final hemp-robed man let out a cry of agonizing despair.
"Awoooo!!"
Hundreds of Primordial Beasts let out a simultaneous, furious roar as they sprinted wildly in Bai Ling's direction.
You've got to be kidding me!
Hundreds of Primordial Beasts brandishing weapons were charging toward him once again.
Rumbling footsteps shook the tunnel.
Bai Ling was scared out of his wits. If it were only a few Primordial Realm Primordial Beasts, he could rely on the power of lightning within his body to contend with them, but nearly a hundred of them meant certain death!
Run!
Gathering every ounce of strength he had left, Bai Ling executed his Wind Shadow technique. Although he was currently extremely weak, lingering here for even a second would cost him his life.
Ten minutes later, Bai Ling leaped violently, stepping out of the tunnel.
Close to a hundred Primordial Beasts followed closely behind him. Dust billowed from the ground as thunderous footsteps shook the space.
At this moment, the ten-square-meter chamber was likewise filled with a dense, pungent stench of fresh blood.
Bai Ling's right eyelid twitched frantically. Out of the fifty cave openings, nearly forty of them were echoing with the heavy, booming sounds of approaching footsteps.
Seconds later, from another cave opening, a Primordial Beast emerged. Its eyes burned crimson as it gripped a long halberd and let out an angry roar, fixing its unblinking gaze entirely on Bai Ling.
"Holy crap!!" Bai Ling widened his eyes in shock as he stared at the dozens of cave openings.
Every single cave mouth that emitted the scent of blood was now completely packed with Primordial Realm Primordial Beasts.
Nearly a thousand Primordial Beasts had now appeared, all glaring at him with murderous intent.
Bai Ling cursed inwardly: What on earth is happening here?!
Why did so many Primordial Realm Primordial Beasts suddenly show up?
Primordial Realm beasts usually only appeared at depths below five hundred meters, yet right now, they were roughly around the four-hundred-meter mark!
Damn it, what is going on?!
An aura of bloodlust radiated from their entire bodies. Could it be that they had mutated, and that it was connected to whatever those hemp-robed men had been doing?
Taking a deep breath, Bai Ling noticed that three meters to his left, a cave entrance emanated no smell of blood. Lightning flashed across his palms as he shattered the nearest Primordial Beast.
Without hesitation, he hurled the newly formed primordial crystal straight into the forehead of a pursuing beast behind him.
Taking advantage of its momentary daze, Bai Ling bolted at top speed.
Just then, a figure in white leaped gracefully out from a tunnel, her expression icy cold.
"Yueyue??" Staring at the white-clad female figure that had suddenly appeared before him, Bai Ling cried out in astonishment!
