Chapter 11: Transforming a Suburban Abandoned Building into a Technology Park
Mrs. Liu did not simply believe Li Mingsi’s one-sided story. She instructed the housekeeper to open the computer and search it up.
She elegantly lifted her teacup, her gaze fixed on the stock information of XG-Tech displayed on the screen.
“3.29 yuan?” She raised an eyebrow and looked at Li Mingsi. “The price is this low? Are you sure?”
Li Mingsi immediately grew excited and began to speak at length. This was his big project for gaining credit. He must have spent a great deal of time gathering information from various sources. He was convinced that any investment would surely yield profit.
In conclusion, Li Mingsi declared, “Mrs. Liu, I guarantee that you will see a substantial return in no time after investing!”
He merely hoped that when Mrs. Liu earned a large sum, she would remember to give him a bonus.
However, a trace of disdain flickered in Mrs. Liu’s eyes.
She had thought that this obscure little man had insider information, which was why she had given him time for a meeting.
But it turned out to be nothing more than his reckless speculation.
Even renowned investors wouldn’t make such bold claims, so how could a mere analyst spout nonsense?
What was even more laughable was that he recommended only a small medical technology company.
Even if the stock doubled, how far could it go?
“Could this person be trying to swindle my money?” Mrs. Liu sneered inwardly. “He’s got the wrong idea. I’m no fool with money to spare.”
Yet on her face, she wore a polite smile and replied perfunctorily, “Alright, I will consider the investment. Thank you for your suggestion.”
Li Mingsi, believing he had impressed Mrs. Liu, said excitedly, “You certainly won’t be disappointed! I promise this will make you a fortune. I hope you decide soon—the earlier you invest, the better!”
Mrs. Liu smiled without a word, but a cold glint flashed in her eyes.
After seeing off the gleeful Li Mingsi, Mrs. Liu snorted coldly.
“How dare he try to cheat the Liu family!”
She instructed the housekeeper, “Make sure to get rid of this man’s job and teach him a lesson.”
After a pause she added, “Also, investigate whom Li Siming has been closely associating with lately. I want to see who dares to covet the Liu family’s interests.”
The housekeeper hesitated and cautiously said, “Madam, Mr. Li’s resume is quite authentic; he is genuinely talented. Perhaps—”
Before he could finish, Mrs. Liu cut him off with an icy glare.
“I am the CEO of the Liu Corporation. After so many years in business, do I need you to tell me what to do?”
Mrs. Liu said coldly, “Just do your duty as housekeeper.”
The housekeeper quickly bowed his head. “Yes, madam. I will handle it immediately.”
At the same time,
Liu Yiyi sat at the luxurious desk in the hotel room, her eyes fixed on the laptop screen.
Today marked the fourth day since she had invested in XG-Tech.
“Invest another 750,000,” she murmured.
As the transaction confirmation tone sounded, Liu Yiyi breathed a long sigh of relief.
She had already invested 2.25 million; tomorrow, the final 750,000 would complete the investment.
She glanced at the stock chart. XG-Tech’s share price was still rising slowly, but not by much—unlikely to attract attention.
A smile crept onto her face. “In another week, I’ll be getting 300 million.”
Money earned through investment was indeed the fastest.
“It’s a pity I can only occasionally come across fragments of information about future investments. If only there were an investor willing to collaborate with me.”
But that was just wishful thinking. Liu Yiyi shook her head.
“Where would I find such a reliable investor just waiting for me?”
They were probably already monopolized by major financial groups, like the Liu family.
She closed the computer and stood up but suddenly felt dizzy.
She grasped the desk, a cold sweat breaking out on her forehead.
“What’s going on?” She frowned, feeling lightheaded out of nowhere. “I should go to the hospital to get checked.”
At the hospital, after careful examination, the doctor told her, “It’s just mild hypoglycemia—an old issue, right?”
Liu Yiyi nodded and took the prescription from the doctor.
“Come back for a follow-up in a week,” the doctor advised.
Stepping out of the consultation room, Liu Yiyi breathed a sigh of relief.
Luckily, nothing serious. She couldn’t afford to falter at such a critical moment.
Her hypoglycemia hadn’t acted up for a long time; she hadn’t expected it to return now.
As she prepared to leave, hurried footsteps echoed nearby.
Liu Yiyi instinctively turned around to see a masked man rushing past, pushing a stretcher.
On it lay an elderly man in poor condition.
“Dad, hang in there!” the man’s deep voice was filled with anxiety.
Soon after, the emergency room’s red light flashed.
Liu Yiyi paused briefly, then continued walking.
She thought to herself, what a coincidence to have crossed paths with the future Best Actor, Lin Mocheng.
She resolved to take her medicine diligently over the next week and return for a check-up afterward.
At XG-Tech headquarters, the penthouse office.
CEO Zhang Mingyuan stood before the floor-to-ceiling window, overlooking the bustling cityscape.
“Knock, knock, knock.”
“Come in.” Zhang Mingyuan turned as Chief Scientist Dr. Li entered.
“Mr. Zhang,” Dr. Li could barely contain his excitement, “our early cancer detection technology has been successfully developed!”
Zhang Mingyuan’s eyes brightened. “Excellent! The progress is faster than expected.”
Dr. Li nodded. “Shall we announce it soon? Our stock price will surely soar.”
Zhang Mingyuan waved his hand. “No rush. Give me a few days to buy back some shares.” He patted Dr. Li on the shoulder. “Well done! The company’s future looks very promising!”
After seeing Dr. Li off, Zhang Mingyuan eagerly opened his computer to check the company’s stock status.
However, upon seeing the shareholder list, his smile froze.
“What’s going on?” he muttered, frowning. “How can an individual retail investor hold so many shares?”
He immediately grabbed the phone. “Xiao Wang, contact the intermediary right away. See if you can reach that retail investor. I want to privately buy back all her shares at a high price.”
“Understood!”
But hours passed, and he still couldn’t get in touch with the mysterious shareholder.
Xiao Wang hurried into the office, wiping sweat from his brow. “Boss, we still can’t reach that large retail shareholder!”
“Keep trying!” Zhang Mingyuan slammed the desk. “No matter what it costs, we have to get in touch!”
Xiao Wang nodded repeatedly and quickly left the office.
Meanwhile, Liu Yiyi sat by the window in the hotel’s top-floor revolving restaurant, facing a sumptuous lunch spread.
A waiter gracefully poured her a glass of 2008 Dom Pérignon champagne; the golden liquid shimmered with delicate bubbles in the tall glass.
“Please enjoy, madam,” the waiter said with a slight bow before retreating, leaving her to savor the peaceful lunch alone.
Liu Yiyi took a small sip of champagne, then tasted the foie gras with truffle toast.
The foie gras melted instantly, and the aroma of truffle blossomed on her palate, perfectly complemented by the toast’s crispness.
Truly a Michelin three-star signature dish.
The main course was a flawlessly cooked medium-rare Wagyu steak, served with black truffle mashed potatoes and asparagus.
With a gentle cut, the pink, tender, juicy meat melted in her mouth.
As she enjoyed the meal, she casually scrolled through her phone.
Finally, she saw another investment headline:
“Hot News (Three Months Later)”
“Abandoned suburban buildings to be transformed into a new technology park! Once overlooked and sold off cheaply, now soaring in value!”
