Chapter 12: The CEO of XG-Tech Wants to Speak with You

“An overlooked clearance sale?” Liu Yiyi’s eyes lit up instantly. She quickly opened a search engine to check the real estate news about the tech park. Sure enough, properties in that area were being sold off at rock-bottom prices, barely attracting any interest. The current clearance price was only 100 million, but as soon as news broke that it would be transformed into a tech park in three months, the value skyrocketed to one billion!

“This kind of profit margin—it’s like money is just falling into my lap!”

At that moment, a waiter gracefully approached with a dessert.

“Ma’am, this is our signature dessert: vanilla cheesecake.”

Liu Yiyi snapped back to reality, gazing at the delicately crafted dessert before her suddenly losing all appeal. She nodded politely but couldn’t help her eyes drifting back to her phone screen.

Outside, the sun shone perfectly, the entire city sprawling beneath her gaze. Liu Yiyi pondered that she could first contact an agent to inspect the unfinished building. Once her investment funds arrived, she could snap it up immediately.

Just then, a notification popped up, making her furrow her brow. It was from a renowned stock intermediary. The message was simple: the CEO of XG-Tech wanted to speak with her.

Liu Yiyi raised an eyebrow, thinking, “I’ve bought quite a few shares; might as well have a talk. After all, I’m somewhat a shareholder now.” She promptly replied: “Sure.”

Half an hour later, Liu Yiyi stood before the towering headquarters of XG-Tech. As she was about to enter, a sharply dressed man’s voice caught her attention. He was anxiously making a call.

“Housekeeper Liu, please trust me! This investment will definitely pay off! I’m currently conducting research right under the XG-Tech building. If you have time, you must come see for yourself.”

Liu Yiyi paused, casting a second glance at the man. To recognize the company’s investment potential at this moment—that’s talent. Her gaze landed on the nameplate on his suit: Li Mingsi.

“Li Mingsi? The Liu family’s investment advisor?” She mentally noted the name, thinking, “Too bad, it seems the Liu family is already working with him.”

With a hint of regret, she entered the building. The metal door slowly shut behind her, muffling the noise from below. As the elevator doors closed, Li Mingsi’s complexion instantly drained.

He had just received terrible news. “What? The collaboration’s canceled? I—I’ve been fired?” “Housekeeper Liu! Wait, why?”

But only the sound of the call ending remained.

At this moment, Liu Yiyi stood before the CEO’s office door and knocked directly.

“Please come in,” came the deep male voice.

Pushing the door open, a faint scent of sandalwood greeted her. Inside the spacious office, a sharply dressed middle-aged man stood by the floor-to-ceiling windows, his back to her.

“Good day, Mr. Zhang,” Liu Yiyi said calmly.

Zhang Mingyuan turned around with a professional smile masking subtle anxiety. “Welcome, Miss Liu. Please have a seat.”

Liu Yiyi sat down. “May I ask what you wished to discuss, Mr. Zhang?”

Zhang cleared his throat nervously. “To be frank, we have some concerns. The number of shares you hold is quite substantial. We hope to redeem a portion of them.”

Liu Yiyi shook her head. “I’m afraid you’ll be disappointed.”

“However, no matter your concerns, I want to make this clear: you only need to regard me as an ordinary shareholder. I won’t interfere with any company decisions; I simply believe in the future of XG-Tech.”

Zhang paused, then forced a wry smile. It seemed his plan would fail. On the bright side, Miss Liu was refreshingly straightforward. If it had been Liu Yiyi herself...

Zhang felt somewhat relieved; he feared someone might be scheming to weaken his influence in the company.

Since the matter was settled, Zhang relaxed and offered a genuine smile. “Thank you very much for your support. May I ask what makes you so confident in us?”

“Intuition,” Liu Yiyi replied lightly. “I’ve always been interested in your company’s products.”

Zhang couldn’t help but admire her boldness. “What a courageous young woman! I believe you have a very bright future.”

“Thank you for your kind words, Mr. Zhang.”

They exchanged smiles, their mutual goals achieved.

After the meeting, Liu Yiyi left the office just as she overheard Li Mingsi’s voice breaking down nearby.

Li Mingsi was still in disbelief. Why had he been fired so abruptly and without explanation? He repeatedly called his superiors, colleagues, even Housekeeper Liu, but all he received was confirmation of his termination.

He couldn’t understand what he had done wrong.

Just as despair was about to overwhelm him, a female voice whispered nearby.

“Hello, I happened to overhear... would you be willing to work for me?”

Li Mingsi immediately recognized Liu Yiyi’s voice.

“It’s you?”

“Damn Liu family!” He couldn’t help but sound bitter. “Yeah, what about it? Are you offering me a job?”

“How ridiculous. It was your own Liu family who fired me!” Liu Yiyi drew a clear boundary. “I’m inviting you on my own behalf. I think you’re competent, and I happen to need an investment advisor.”

Li Mingsi sneered. “Sure, come back when you have over a hundred million to invest.”

What Liu family? He didn’t trust a single one of them anymore!

Anguish and anger churned inside him. He believed he had been diligent, yet this was the reward—being tossed aside without a second thought.

Liu Yiyi nodded calmly. “Alright, leave me your contact info. I’ll get in touch.”

Li Mingsi was stunned but instinctively exchanged phone numbers with her. Only after she walked away did he snap back to reality.

“What? You’re serious? You’re not playing with me?”

He was dazed, only coming to his senses after sitting down on a sofa.

“Liu Yiyi really wants to hire me?”

Regret flooded his heart. “Did I turn her down too hastily?”

He didn’t even know where his next meal would come from but had just refused Liu Yiyi’s offer.

He picked up his phone, hesitating whether to call her back.
