Chapter 13: I Want This Abandoned Building
Madam Liu was convinced that this was a trap set up by Yiyi Liu in collusion with Li Mingsi.
Since that was the case, there was no way she would give in to Yiyi Liu.
At that moment, the door quietly closed.
Liu Xinyi took in the entire scene with satisfaction.
She returned to her room, pulled out her phone, and opened the group chat of her close friends:
“Got it!”
“Girls, big news! Yiyi Liu is about to suffer a huge loss.”
As soon as the message appeared, the chat exploded with responses:
“Is that for real? Tell us more!”
With pride, Liu Xinyi typed back: “She invested in XG-Tech, that lousy company!”
“She was even trying to get our Liu family to bail her out, but my mother saw right through it!”
“Now she’s going to lose big. Five million is nothing; she’s about to become broke!”
This news, once shared in the group chat, swiftly spread throughout the entire upper-class social circle.
At an upscale clubhouse, several second-generation wealthy heirs were playing golf.
“Have you heard? Yiyi Liu actually invested in some unknown small medical company.”
“Apparently, the company has been researching for years with no results. Looks like she’s going to lose her luck-earned money through real skill now.”
On a luxurious yacht, a few socialites were enjoying afternoon tea.
“Yiyi Liu,” a blonde beauty shook her head, “I told you, she knows nothing about investing.”
“Exactly,” another elegantly sipped her red tea, “this is going to be entertaining.”
“Wait until school starts; she’ll be flat broke! Hahaha.”
“Don’t be so harsh. We could even spare her some help. Can’t have a classmate unable to afford tuition, right?” The ladies burst into gleeful laughter, delighting in her misfortune.
Meanwhile, Yiyi Liu stood before a desolate construction site, squinting as she assessed the scene.
The scorching sun reflected off the exposed steel-reinforced concrete, casting a dazzling glare.
This was the future site of the technology park.
“Jade Garden isn’t bad,” she said to Xiao Zhang, the real estate agent beside her.
Xiao Zhang wiped the sweat from his forehead and forced a smile. “Yes, Miss Liu, but this place is a bit out of the way.”
“I have…” Before Xiao Zhang could finish, Yiyi Liu stopped him.
Her gaze swept across the unfinished project.
Four half-completed high-rises towered in the center of the wasteland, each at least thirty stories tall, surrounded by undeveloped wetland parks, covering a substantial area.
“How much to take it?” Yiyi Liu asked casually.
Xiao Zhang hesitated before replying, “Even at a fire-sale price, it’s one hundred million.”
Yiyi Liu nodded. “Fine, arrange the deposit.”
Xiao Zhang’s eyes widened, and he froze on the spot.
He hurriedly tried to dissuade her: “Miss Liu, I’ve been in this business for over a decade. Trust me, we have better options! The new commercial district in Dongcheng is in a prime location with full amenities…”
Yiyi Liu dismissed him. “No need. This place will do.”
Xiao Zhang grew anxious. If this deal went through, his commission would be pitifully small.
The new commercial district would have fetched him at least ten times more.
Suddenly, an idea struck him. He pretended to make a phone call to arrange a meeting with another buyer, then turned back to Yiyi Liu with a troubled expression.
“Miss Liu, sorry, the seller is unavailable today. How about we reschedule for tomorrow? I have time and can show you around…”
Yiyi Liu glanced at Xiao Zhang, as if seeing through him, and said calmly, “Alright, tomorrow then.”
“I have something else to attend to. I’ll leave you here.” Xiao Zhang was left dumbfounded alone.
Back in the car, Yiyi Liu immediately dialed another number.
“Hello, is this Agent Li? Could you help me contact the seller of Jade Garden—the unfinished building? I’m interested in purchasing it and want to discuss the deposit.”
Agent Li promptly confirmed and arranged a specific time.
Yiyi Liu knew perfectly well that Xiao Zhang had pegged her as an easy mark.
Right after hanging up, a call came from Li Mingsi.
“Hello, Miss Liu?” His voice carried a note of urgency. “I…I’m willing to work for you.”
Yiyi Liu was puzzled by his sudden decision but remained composed. “Good. Come sign the contract tomorrow.”
After hanging up, Li Mingsi breathed a long sigh of relief. It wasn’t that he lacked backbone; he had just fallen ill and realized he couldn’t afford to take his time job hunting.
Fortunately, Miss Liu was forgiving and straightforward. He hoped he had made the right choice.
Sigh. He had no idea what kind of investment plan she wanted. The one he most recommended was the stock of XG-Tech!
He casually tore off his finished IV drip, just then hearing a muffled, sorrowful voice from down the corridor:
“Dad, I will find a way. I will raise the money to cure your cancer!”
Li Mingsi turned toward the sound and saw a young man leaning against a hospital room door, hands covering his face, shoulders trembling violently.
“Cancer… that’s not easy to treat,” he thought regretfully, when their eyes inadvertently met.
“Damn! So handsome?” Li Mingsi exclaimed silently.
Lin Mochen hadn’t expected to be seen just then. Instinctively, he pulled up his black mask and hurried past with his head down.
After ending the call, Yiyi Liu received a message from Zhang Mingyuan, CEO of XG-Tech.
She raised an eyebrow. Zhang Mingyuan was hosting a charity gala and had invited her to attend.
“Just to show face and meet other shareholders—a sort of introduction as a new investor.”
After some thought, Yiyi Liu replied, “Alright, I’ll be there on time.”
She had already invested her entire three million and was just waiting for the harvest.
In a few days, her worth would double instantly. Today was perfect to lock down this unfinished building project.
However, this time she didn’t go to the site but went straight to the sales office.
“Miss Liu, this way please,” Sister Li greeted her warmly.
The cool air conditioning relieved some of the summer heat.
Wang, the manager responsible for the unfinished building, met her with a broad smile.
“Miss Liu, you really have an eye for value!” he flattered, secretly delighted at finally finding a big spender.
Yiyi Liu smiled faintly, took the contract, and read it carefully.
After confirming everything was in order, she decisively signed her name.
Wang looked at the signature as if seeing stacks of money waving at him.
He rubbed his hands eagerly. “Miss Liu, rest assured, you’re very lucky to have snagged this great deal!”
Yiyi Liu said softly, “I hope so.”
Meanwhile, Xiao Zhang had just arrived at the office when he received a call from a major client.
His expression instantly turned respectful.
“Hello, General Manager Liu?”
On the other end was Madam Liu’s voice: “Xiao Zhang, I want to buy that unfinished Jade Garden property. Price is negotiable.”
She had just learned that a high-speed rail was planned for the area, which would surely cause the value to soar.
Xiao Zhang’s eyes lit up. Inspired, he quickly flattered her: “General Manager Liu, you’ve come at the perfect time!”
“Miss Yiyi Liu wanted to buy it yesterday, but luckily I managed to stall her a bit.”
“Seems like fate has arranged this for you.”
“Looks like you’re the real buyer after all!”
