Liu Yiyi lounged lazily on the hotel’s oversized bed, basking in the warmth of sunlight streaming through the floor-to-ceiling windows. The moment she thought of the hospital, her mind flashed to the movie king she had seen in the news earlier.
“If only I could meet that future movie king. If I ever do, I’d have to help him out. With such a bright future, investing in him would be a surefire win.”
She turned over and shook her head with a smile. “How could it possibly be that coincidental? Forget it, I’ll go this afternoon. But right now, I just want to sleep a little more…”
Meanwhile, inside the grand Liu family mansion.
“What? An advance of ten million?” Mrs. Liu’s sharp voice echoed through the entire living room. “Who does he think he is?”
On the other end of the phone, the agent spoke cautiously, “President Liu, this artist really has great potential, but his father is ill and urgently needs…”
“I don’t care!” Mrs. Liu cut him off sharply. “Don’t even think about it! Tell him to give up this idea!”
The agent hesitated before whispering, “But… if we don’t agree, he might not renew his contract.”
“Hmph,” Mrs. Liu sneered coldly. “Does Liu Family Entertainment need him? If he doesn’t want to work here, then get lost! Sue him!”
She paused, a cruel glint flashing in her eyes. “Even if we can’t win the lawsuit, drag him down with us. That kind of useless person deserves his father’s death!”
In the hospital corridor, Lin Mochen leaned pale against the wall, his phone ringing with the apologetic voice of his agent.
“Mochen, I’m really sorry.”
Lin Mochen fought to steady his trembling voice. “Sister Wang, is there truly no other way?”
“I’ve done all I can. President Liu…,” Sister Wang hesitated, “she won’t budge.”
“So my father’s surgery fees… there’s no way?”
He had already made up his mind—if the company would help him this once, he would dedicate his life to repaying their kindness. He was willing to give everything for his father’s survival.
But no.
The voice on the other end continued, “Also, prepare your renewal contract soon.”
“President Liu said if you dare to use this as leverage, you probably won’t be able to stay in this industry!”
Lin Mochen was stunned. “But I’m my only bargaining chip. If even that path is blocked, how am I supposed to save my father?”
Sister Wang’s tone softened. “Listen to me and hang on a little longer. Once your new drama premieres and you get paid, won’t you have the money? Then…”
“But…” Lin Mochen interrupted, “The doctors said my father won’t last that long…”
“Oh, you child!” Sister Wang was a little angry. “You think I don’t want to help you? But President Liu…”
Rustling sounds came from the other side, as if someone was speaking nearby.
“Mochen, listen carefully. If you do anything foolish, President Liu won’t let you off. She said even if she can’t win the lawsuit, she’ll drag you down!”
Despair overwhelmed Lin Mochen. He covered his face, and the phone slipped from his hand.
“Trust me, be good and wait. Maybe one day President Liu will be in a better mood… Mochen? Mochen!”

“Ding ding ding ding!”
The phone’s notifications chimed incessantly, waking Liu Yiyi groggily from her nap.
“What’s going on? Why so many messages today?”
She rubbed her eyes and opened her phone, discovering they were all notifications from her class group chat.
School was about to start.
She scrolled through the messages and suddenly froze.
They were talking about her.
“I heard Liu Yiyi is still living in that five-star hotel?”
Liu Yiyi frowned—when that message was sent, she had been sleeping.
Perhaps assuming she wouldn’t check the group, more and more messages about her flooded in.
“So what if it’s a five-star? It’s not even her own place.”
“What about her luxury car? Has she sold it?”
“Whose car do you mean? It belongs to the Liu family! Be precise, please.”
Her expression darkened.
Those who once surrounded her, fawning over her, had turned their backs since her fake heiress identity was exposed. Now they shamelessly mocked her.
But the one who seemed happiest was her archrival, Zhou Yu.
Zhou Yu immediately posted in the group, “Look at my new limited edition collection~”
Photos followed—an array of extravagantly luxurious bags and jewelry.
“Wow! Sister Zhou is so rich!”
“Truly a genuine white rich beauty!”
“Yeah, you can tell right away who’s real.”
Zhou Yu posted a smug emoji: “Oh please, can you guys stop mentioning certain bumpkins? It was just a five-million lottery win. I can’t even buy one of my bags with that. What’s the big deal?”
“Rain says it right! Some people really aren’t worth our attention anymore.”
Just then, a notification popped up: Liu Xinyi joined the group.
Zhou Yu immediately sent a warm welcome emoji.
Liu Xinyi replied happily with a hugging emoji.
The two acted as close as sisters.
Liu Yiyi wasn’t bothered at all. Seeing their little antics, she could only find them amusing.
Just as she was about to leave the group chat, Liu Xinyi sent a message.
“Have you heard? Liu Yiyi is transferring from the Art Department to Management.”
Page 3/3
“Is that true? Must be broke if she can’t afford art classes anymore.”
“Exactly, studying art costs a lot. Now she’s a pauper!”
“With her pig-headed brain, how can she even study management well? If she makes money, I’ll stand on my head in this chat!”
“Hey, don’t say that about her,” Liu Xinyi posted a fake-sincere clarification. “Maybe she really is out of money, trying to learn management to make money. Poor thing.”
“Yeah right, does she really think switching to management will make her rich? Does she think she’s a female Buffett?” Liu Yiyi almost laughed in disbelief.
She could now see future news on her phone. With these snippets, she was bound to make a fortune later.
But news alone wasn’t enough—she needed some knowledge of management to better utilize this information.
That was why she switched majors.
She hadn’t expected to be mocked by Liu Xinyi and the others.
“Truly a case of incompatible paths.”
Liu Yiyi was too lazy to read further and simply requested to leave the group.
These heiresses all relied on their parents for pocket money, while she was earning her own.
She had long since lost common ground with them.
Her exit caused a momentary silence in the group chat.
But soon, the messages resumed unabated.
Group owner Li Meiqi posted, “She’s got some self-awareness. If she doesn’t leave voluntarily, I’ll kick her out. That won’t be pretty.”
“Wait, damn! Look at this!”
After Liu Yiyi left, the chat grew even more ruthless.
A screenshot appeared—a private chat between Li Meiqi’s father.
“Liu Yiyi is going to lose big this time! How could that stock possibly rise? Looks like she’s going to lose all her five million lottery money.”
“And that abandoned building project is a death trap. My dad said no one dared to take it on for years. She’s so stupid for taking it. What a sucker!”
The chat exploded with gloating emojis and jeers.
At two in the afternoon, inside the XG-Tech conference room.
CEO Zhang Mingyuan sat excitedly at the head of the table. He took a deep breath.
“Everyone,” he began, “after unanimous approval at the shareholders’ meeting, we are officially announcing a major breakthrough.”
“We have successfully developed a revolutionary early cancer detection technology with 99.9% accuracy!”
“This news will surely send our stock soaring!”
“Now is the moment of truth.”
“I’ve already asked the PR department to prepare the press release,” Zhang Mingyuan continued. “In five minutes, the whole world will know the name XG-Tech.”
The conference room erupted with excitement.
Zhang Mingyuan raised his hand to calm everyone. As the countdown to the announcement began, the atmosphere grew tense.
“3... 2... 1...”
He pressed send.
With the release of the news, the stock price shot up like an arrow from a bow!
