Volume One, Chapter 12: Let's See Who's More Powerful
At this moment, Wei Guoxiong, standing still, still believed that the actor sent by Lou Nanzhi was trying to scare him.
Was Wei Guoxiong someone who could be frightened easily?
Surely Lou Nanzhi had forgotten that thirty years ago, Wei Guoxiong was also a formidable figure.
Seeing the two of them at odds, Lou Nanzhi turned to Fu Kun.
“Old Fu, you better go back to work first. I’ll try to reason with him and ask him to leave as well. I’ll handle our matters quickly. If President Fu arrives and sees us all outside, our jobs might be at risk!”
Lou Nanzhi didn’t mind losing her job, but dragging her colleagues down with her was something she could not bear.
Watching Lou Nanzhi and Fu Kun exchanging words a little distance away, Wei Guoxiong found it amusing.
“Lou Nanzhi! You’ve hidden well these past thirty years. I never expected you to hire an actor to provoke me! I want to see how this play ends! Just don’t come crying to me later!”
With those harsh words, Wei Guoxiong got back into his car and immediately video-called Xiao Qing. Of course, he wanted to enjoy this real-life drama with the woman he loved.
“Guoxiong, how’s it going over there? You must talk to my sister-in-law properly. She’s old now, don’t you dare lay a hand on her!”
Xiao Qing answered the video call in the demeanor of a virtuous wife and mother.
Hearing that made Wei Guoxiong feel relieved inside.
“Hit her? That would dirty my hands. Let me show you something interesting!”
He adjusted the phone’s camera.
“Who’s that man?”
Xiao Qing saw a tall, upright man standing next to Lou Nanzhi not far away.
Though she couldn’t see his face clearly, from her years of experience, that man was definitely no ordinary person!
“Hmph! That man is an actor hired by Lou Nanzhi!”
“What? An actor?”
No wonder Xiao Qing found him so striking!
“Yes! He’s acting with me here, telling me to wait and see what happens later. Xiao Qing, you tell me, I’ve been married to this woman for thirty years. How come she doesn’t even compare to one of your fingers? She’s just causing trouble for me. I’ve already given her a way out, but she refuses to take it. Every minute I waste with them costs me so much!”
Wei Guoxiong was already a bit on edge from Lou Nanzhi’s torment, but he simply didn’t want a divorce.
He didn’t want to break the comfort zone he had grown used to over the past thirty years.
“Guoxiong, why don’t you get back to your work first? I’ll talk to my sister-in-law these days. She should at least consider the child in my belly and give me a way out.”
Xiao Qing had long wanted to speak with Lou Nanzhi alone.
She wanted to ask her face to face: since she was already pregnant, why did she still cling to this family?
Yesterday, Wei Guoxiong told her that Lou Nanzhi agreed to divorce but insisted on splitting half the property.
Xiao Qing couldn’t sit still. That was hers and her unborn child’s. Handing it over to a bitter old woman was just a dream.
So she had to play dirty to make Lou Nanzhi back off!
But Wei Guoxiong wouldn’t let her meet Lou Nanzhi.
“Xiao Qing! Your priority now is to rest and take care of the baby. You can’t be involved in this. What if that crazy woman provokes you and harms our son?”
“Guoxiong! No matter what, she can’t go after the child…”
Xiao Qing’s words were completely unheard by Wei Guoxiong.
Just then, a dump truck suddenly turned into the driveway of the Moon Viewing Tower Hotel.
“Xiao Qing, wait a moment! I’m moving my car.”
Since becoming an entrepreneur, Wei Guoxiong had become very cautious about his health.
He underwent medical check-ups three times a year and rushed to the hospital at the slightest sign of trouble.
Seeing the dump truck drive in, he panicked.
As he started his car, the dump truck sped toward him.
“Guoxiong, be careful!” Xiao Qing shouted through the video call.
But just as Wei Guoxiong was about to turn around, the dump truck stopped in front of his car, and its cargo bed suddenly tilted downward.
With a loud crash!
Countless coins rained down, hitting Wei Guoxiong’s car one after another.
It looked like a sudden, fierce storm.
Wei Guoxiong, sitting inside, screamed in terror.
“Old Fu! That truck, go get some help!”
Lou Nanzhi had never seen such a scene before. Though she hated Wei Guoxiong with all her heart, in her eyes, he was still a life.
Even if it were just a stray dog on the street, she would try her best to save it—not to mention a husband she had lived with for thirty years.
“It’s okay! He won’t die!”
Lou Nanzhi barely recognized Old Fu beside her at that moment.
“Did you call them?”
Lou Nanzhi asked.
“Yes! A friend from my crew. Those coins are fake. Don’t worry! Other than some damage to the car, he’s fine. We just wanted to break his spirit, so he won’t think we’re easy to bully.”
Fu Kun spoke calmly as always.
No one else in the capital dared to bully Fu Kun’s woman.
She had been bullied under his watch for thirty years—he wouldn’t be so polite.
Didn’t Lou Nanzhi swear she’d pelt him to death with coins?
He wanted to see who would die first!
As Lou Nanzhi hesitated whether to help Wei Guoxiong, the door of the newly purchased car swung open.
Amid the clatter, silver coins spilled onto the ground.
Wei Guoxiong flushed with anger, pointing at Lou Nanzhi.
“Fine! Lou Nanzhi! You’re impressive! Alright, Lou Nanzhi, we’ll see about this.”
After saying this, he slunk to the roadside, hailed a taxi, and left.
Watching Wei Guoxiong’s embarrassed retreat, Lou Nanzhi felt a secret satisfaction, but she hadn’t wanted things to escalate like this.
After all, they had three children.
It would be best to finalize the divorce quickly. If the endless entanglement continued, Lou Nanzhi’s hard-won job might be lost.
Lou Nanzhi calmed down and looked embarrassedly at Fu Kun.
“Old Fu, thank you for standing up for me, but please, no next time. This scene was a bit too much. If you hadn’t told me it was props, I’d have thought it was real!”
After all, Lou Nanzhi had only seen such a scene on TV dramas.
Besides, she was originally a dignified person. Although she had been a housewife for thirty years, she never wanted things to reach this point.
“It’s nothing. Seeing you bullied troubles my heart!”
Fu Kun looked at Lou Nanzhi with deep sympathy. He had thought it was just a divorce dispute but hadn’t realized how difficult her life had become.
Fu Kun’s words made Lou Nanzhi a bit embarrassed.
“Old Fu, no matter what, thank you. I’ll transfer you the money for the props later!”
