Volume One, Chapter 22: This Is My Fiancé
“What are you doing? Can’t you see there’s no room left in the car?”
Su Yinwan and Song Huaiyu were both stunned.
“Then where are we supposed to sit?” Su Yinwan asked tentatively. “Or should my fiancé and I take the next trip, and you come back for us later?”
After Mo Yan left, Shi Jingtian tossed and turned sleeplessly in bed. Several days passed in the blink of an eye. His conduct over the past few days had won Zong Nan’s trust, and Zong Nan clearly understood the benefits of keeping him close—perhaps even harboring thoughts of his own that remained impossible to discern.
In this day and age, the beautiful love stories of childhood sweethearts had all but vanished. Yet meeting and falling in love at school, then joining hands to share a lifetime together, was still the stuff of touching tales and romantic legend.
Everything happened too suddenly. A great two-handed sword had appeared from nowhere, helping Shi Jingtian break free from his desperate predicament with the force of a withered tree collapsing before an axe. No one had time to wonder where it came from, nor why he could command a sword with spiritual power like an immortal swordsman—for that enormous green hand had already descended.
He returned home deep in thought, only to be brought back to reality by Jin Yujie’s earth-shaking roar.
Supreme Culinary God’s Ninth-Grade Soup. Seven glittering words leapt into view, accompanied by an overwhelming stench of shameless self-praise.
The attack refused to let up. Waving bloodstained hands, it clawed desperately toward him, and Shi Jingtian had no way to dodge any longer. Gritting his teeth, he leapt sideways several steps, snatched up the Demon-Breaking Scissors Zong Nan had thrown aside, closed his eyes, and swung them violently in every direction.
Zong Nan raised his voice slightly and asked tentatively. This time, there was finally some reaction. Shi Jingtian stared at him with hollow eyes, but only shook his head blankly.
Xiao Long cast a grateful glance at Xigu and gave an almost imperceptible nod. Since Xigu had reminded him and spared him the humiliation of losing face before everyone, Xiao Long was deeply grateful.
Yet not everyone was so excited. Although they too wished to obtain the Vermilion Bird’s inheritance, some possessed water-based attributes that would conflict with it, while others felt it simply did not suit them. Their enthusiasm, therefore, was not particularly high.
In the tenth year, Qiao Chuyan staged a funeral and, under the guise of deceiving the heavens and crossing the sea, secretly sent Yu Qingqing to France for treatment.
As for those two words, you know very well that I am the one who has wronged you more. I only hope the purple haze in your eyes will disappear soon and your vision will recover quickly.
I wasted no time. I raised my hand and struck her with an Armor-Piercing Sword, stripping away a tremendous amount of health, then followed with an ordinary attack and smoothly sent her off the stage.
Lady Su hurriedly followed. The Jadeite, who had gone to inquire along the way, caught up as well and quietly reported the details.
“Ruoruo, give the Haotian Sword back to me, please...” Clutching a corner of Lin Ruoxi’s cloak, I wailed all the way.
Come to think of it, he had done so many things to harm the Yu family. Given Yu Junyao’s temperament, how could she possibly tolerate him?
“Hongsu, what’s wrong?” Yanchuan still held a sprig of Thousand-Rose Grass in his hand. He turned around in confusion and asked worriedly when he saw Hongsu suddenly freeze.
“Mo Tie, you’ll be fine. Just endure a little longer.” The elderly Cao Zhi, who had remained beside me, gazed at me in the bathing tub with an extremely solemn expression and offered me a kindly reassurance.
That was the question in everyone’s heart as well. Qin Chen had simply called it a “biological agent,” but what kind of agent could possess the power to make something that had “died” come back to life?
Once inside, icy air swirled and spread all around them. After closing the door, Xia Yi put on a pair of gloves, placed the red stone in his palm, and held it out before Zhou Jin.
Lu Bu cast Pang Tong a somewhat sympathetic glance. This war had evidently dealt him a severe blow; otherwise, a man accustomed to taking risks would never have become so cautious. Just as Lu Bu was about to offer him a few words of comfort, Pang Tong’s next words left him utterly dumbfounded.
That was right. They were subjects of His Majesty the Demon King Lansier, living within his domain and governed by Stork, the chief administrator of the neighborhood office.
