Chapter 11: Time to Eat

In the rose garden, a row of ground lights illuminated two figures walking one after the other. Shen Zhi and Ming Ziluo paced forward in single file.
Ming Ziluo smiled and said, “Ah Zhi, don’t we feel like we’ve gone back to our university days? Although back then, I was the one walking ahead of you. It’s been five years—I really miss those times.”
Shen Zhi halted his steps and looked back at her. “What’s your purpose in coming back this time?”
Ming Ziluo gazed at him steadily. “I want to start over with you.”
Shen Zhi gave a cynical smile. “You really think that’s possible?”
Ming Ziluo answered confidently, “In this world, nothing is impossible.”
Shen Zhi met her eyes steadily. “Between you and me, it’s impossible.”
The unfamiliar look in Shen Zhi’s eyes unsettled Ming Ziluo like never before, and she suddenly felt anxious. “Ah Zhi, listen to me. When I suggested breaking up back then, it was my father forcing me. He threatened with the company—if I chose you, he would hand the company over to my brother. You know how strong-willed I am... I—”
“So you just gave up on me?” Shen Zhi asked.
Ming Ziluo grew even more flustered. “I never gave up on you. I endured for five years and finally took over the company, so I came straight to find you as soon as I could. Not a single man caught my eye during these five years because my heart was only with you. Ah Zhi, will you give me one more chance?”
She reached out to take his hand, but Shen Zhi pulled away.
This was the first time Shen Zhi had rejected her. Ming Ziluo didn’t know what to do. She had thought that as long as she came to him, he would want her. Why not?
“Five years is enough time to change a person,” Shen Zhi gave her the answer.

“Excuse me, ladies and gentlemen,” a soft female voice called out. “Uncle Xu asked me to tell you that dinner is ready. We’ve been waiting for you.”
Shen Zhi looked up and saw Guan Yueyue standing not far away. Her large, contrasting black-and-white eyes were curiously fixed on them.
Shen Zhi walked toward her and, passing by, whispered into her ear, “Miss Third is truly beautiful today.”
Guan Yueyue was speechless.
Ming Ziluo, wearing high heels, approached Guan Yueyue. “What did Shen Zhi just say to you?”
Guan Yueyue knew Ming Ziluo well—she was ruthless and cunning. In her previous life, Ming Ziluo had claimed Shen Zhi for herself. Anyone who caught Shen Zhi’s attention or received special treatment from him would suffer terribly. The term “venomous beauty” suited her perfectly.
“What did he say?” Ming Ziluo asked again, her gaze sharpening.
Guan Yueyue, smarter this time around, replied, “He said I’m standing right here, blocking his way.”
Ming Ziluo stared at her to confirm the truth before turning and walking away.

At the dining table.
Guan Yueyue snuggled closely beside Xu Ziyu.
Shen Zhi’s gaze remained fixed on her, making it impossible for Guan Yueyue to ignore.
Xu Zewen eyed Ming Ziluo, growing more and more pleased. “Miss Ming, what do you do for a living?”

Ming Ziluo immediately smiled brightly and replied, “Uncle, please just call me Ziluo. I’m the executive CEO at Ming Dynasty Group.”
Xu Zewen said, “Ming Dynasty Group? What’s your relation to Ming Dynasty?”
Ming Ziluo answered, “Ming Dynasty is my father.”
Xu Zewen’s face showed shock. “Xiao Zhi, your girlfriend is actually the daughter of the richest man in the capital. How did you two meet?”
Ming Ziluo said, “Ah Zhi and I were university classmates.”
Xu Zewen laughed. “I see.”
Guan Yueyue buried her head in her food, not expecting Ming Ziluo to call her out, “This little beauty must be Ziyu’s girlfriend, right?”
Guan Yueyue swallowed and said, “Hello. My name is Guan Yueyue.”
Xu Zewen smiled and said, “Yueyue has liked our Ziyu since she was little. She’s bound to marry him someday, right, Yueyue?”
Xu Ziyu quickly responded, “If Yueyue doesn’t marry me, who else will she marry?”
