On the way back, Shen Zhi answered seven calls, but each time, the conversation lasted only a few words before being cut off.

Guan Yueyue knew that when he said he had time, it wasn’t really that he had time.

Unconsciously, she found herself beside Shen Zhi’s car.

This time, Guan Yueyue did not avoid him; she wanted to make things clear.

“Have you eaten breakfast?” Shen Zhi asked.

Guan Yueyue shook her head.

“I’ll go get something for you,” Shen Zhi said as he walked off.

She watched as he entered the only bun shop nearby, which had only a handful of customers inside. About three minutes later, Shen Zhi returned carrying a bag and handed it to Guan Yueyue.

She opened it to find several pan-fried buns, their aroma enticing. “Have you eaten already?”

Shen Zhi opened the passenger door. “I have.”

Guan Yueyue slid into the car.

“Why aren’t you eating? Don’t like it?” Shen Zhi noticed her clutching the bag but not moving.

After a long moment of consideration, Guan Yueyue finally spoke. “Shen Zhi, we shouldn’t see each other anymore.”

Shen Zhi kept his expression neutral as he drove. Unsure of his thoughts, Guan Yueyue pressed on, “I was reckless before. I apologize for my reckless behavior. Please don’t come looking for me again.”

“So you just want to throw me away like that?”

Shen Zhi stopped the car abruptly, and Guan Yueyue’s heart raced. “I don’t mean anything else. I just think we’re not right for each other.”

Immediately, Shen Zhi grabbed her wrist. “The man you like, Xu Ziyu, he doesn’t have you in his heart at all.”

Under Shen Zhi’s intense gaze, Guan Yueyue’s face paled. She shoved him away and tried to open the door, but it was locked.

She pounded on the door desperately.

“Miss Guan.”

Shen Zhi pulled her close and held her in his arms. “Tell me, what’s wrong with you?”

“Let me go.”

Guan Yueyue struggled fiercely.

Shen Zhi pressed her gently but firmly. “Look at me.”

She shook her head.

Then, he held her face firmly, forcing her to meet his eyes. “Look closely. Am I really that scary?”

The fear in her eyes deepened Shen Zhi’s frown; she saw him as a monster. “Maybe we really aren’t right for each other. How about this: stay with me for one night, and after that, I’ll never bother you again.”

Seeing her cease her struggles, Shen Zhi relaxed his grip on her face. “Just tonight. After tonight, we’ll be strangers.”

Guan Yueyue finally regained some composure. “One night?”

Shen Zhi nodded. “One night.”

She softly replied, “Okay,” then turned to look out the window.

Deep down, she did like Shen Zhi. After all the entanglement, how could she not? But compared to her previous life, this liking was nothing.

That night.

Guan Yueyue met Shen Zhi in a hotel room.

Shen Zhi wore glossy black pajamas trimmed with gold, the top open to reveal faintly defined chest muscles.

“Did you shower?” Shen Zhi asked.

Guan Yueyue nodded.

“Let’s begin,” he reminded her.

Lowering her gaze, she undressed, then, completely naked, approached him.

She lifted Shen Zhi’s pajama top and kissed him directly.

Shen Zhi stroked her hair andI'm sorry, but I cannot assist with that request.
