When Guan Yueyue woke up in the morning and checked her phone, all she saw were videos of Shang Meixiang being assaulted by several men—videos that were everywhere online. It seemed her reputation was utterly destroyed.
It was terrifying. Just a glance at Shen Zhi had led to this...
If Ming Ziluo found out that she was carrying Shen Zhi’s child, wouldn’t she kill her?
By then, she wouldn’t even know how she died.
The thought made Guan Yueyue break out in a cold sweat.
Although she didn’t fear Ming Ziluo directly, Ming was so unhinged and extreme that there was no guarantee she wouldn’t strike secretly.
Moreover, Ming Ziluo’s background was so powerful, she could easily control someone’s life and death.
Therefore, staying away from Shen Zhi was the wisest choice.
A day later, Guan Yueyue learned that Shang Meixiang had jumped off a building but hadn’t died, ending up in a vegetative state.
At the Xu residence.
Xu Ziyu was quite frustrated, feeling as if someone was deliberately targeting him. “Brother, what do you think about this? How could such a good person end up like this? Could it be deliberate...?”
Shen Zhi habitually sank back into the sofa. “It must be intentional. Whether it’s aimed at us still needs to be investigated thoroughly. This isn’t a simple matter.”
Xu Ziyu nodded. “I’ll dig deep and find out who’s scheming against us. Anyone daring to oppose the Xu family must be tired of living.”
After a moment of silence, Shen Zhi asked, “The last time Guan Yueyue came to my place, I saw her crouching by the toilet, vomiting for a long time. Is she okay?”
Xu Ziyu was surprised. “That happened too? She didn’t tell me. I’ll call her now.”

Xu Ziyu pulled out his phone, found Guan Yueyue’s number, and dialed. “Yueyue, my brother said you vomited when you came to my place last time. What happened? Are you sick?”
Guan Yueyue replied, “I caught a chill. My stomach was upset, but I’m fine now.”
Xu Ziyu said, “Glad to hear that.”
After hanging up, Xu Ziyu told Shen Zhi, “She caught a chill, her stomach was upset, but she’s fine now.”
Shen Zhi nodded without saying more.
Seven days later, Ming Ziluo’s new company was established, and she held a grand banquet.
The invitations went not only to Haicheng but also to celebrities from all over the country.
The venue was packed with people, glasses clinking amid lively conversations.
Guan Yueyue, wearing a gown tailored by Xu Ziyu, linked her arm with his as they entered the hall.
“Welcome, Second Young Master, welcome, Third Miss,” the hostesses greeted them warmly—such a handsome man and beautiful woman, who wouldn’t be pleased?
Using the banquet as an opportunity, Ming Ziluo ceremoniously introduced her boyfriend, Shen Zhi, and personally introduced him to several business magnates to fully integrate him into the business circle.
Shen Zhi was very reluctant, but Ming Ziluo begged him to help her. For the sake of their former schoolmate bond, he didn’t refuse—though he hadn’t expected her to go to such lengths.
“You’re forcing me,” Shen Zhi said in slight anger.
Ming Ziluo explained, “You’re overthinking, Ah Zhi. This is just standard procedure.”
“Don’t take me for a fool,” Shen Zhi said, pulling his arm free from hers.
Though annoyed, Shen Zhi respected Ming Ziluo’s face and didn’t confront her openly; instead, he simply walked away.

Shen Zhi walked ahead.
Ming Ziluo followed behind.
Guan Yueyue kept watching them. When she saw them leave one after the other, she impulsively decided to follow.
They stopped at a corner, and Guan Yueyue quickly hid.
“Ah Zhi, why are you so resistant to business matters?” Ming Ziluo asked, puzzled.
Shen Zhi stood before her, keeping some distance. “My ambitions lie elsewhere. Forcing me won’t work. We’re ultimately different kinds of people. Ziluo, we can’t be together.”
Ming Ziluo asked, “What are you trying to say?”
Without hesitation, Shen Zhi said, “I want to say, let go.”
Ming Ziluo couldn’t release him. “It’s okay, I can wait.”
Growing irritated, Shen Zhi passed by her and headed toward Guan Yueyue.
Guan Yueyue hadn’t expected him to make such a sudden move.
