Let me briefly discuss the current status of this book.
Friday has already passed, but I haven’t received any notification for the next round of recommendations in my writer’s assistant. This means my novel didn’t make it past the first round of new book recommendations, and all it got was a website promotion that didn’t really do much.
At first, I was a bit skeptical. I thought, for a new author with a fresh novel, my results weren’t bad at all. So I checked the stats, only to find my book ranked 13th out of 22 in the same recommendation slot. That’s right in the middle.
Honestly, it’s a rather awkward spot to be in—not low enough to give up, but not high enough to break through.
If you’re further down the list, your book is essentially dead—no one reads it, and even if the author drops it, nobody would complain. Even if you keep writing purely out of love, it’s like talking to yourself. Sometimes, editors might even encourage you to cut your losses and not keep banging your head against a brick wall.
If you’re higher up, you’re either a seasoned LV345 author or writing fanfiction. They get promoted on the app, while I only get the website, which is a whole different level of exposure. It’s no surprise their results crush mine in the early stages. Editors are also more willing to give them more recommendation resources, letting them snowball their success.
For someone like me, stuck in the middle, editors probably don’t think I’m worth further recommendations. I suspect they just want me to keep writing until the book is officially released and I can get the full attendance bonus. But I still think there’s a chance for this book; I want to fight for more, yet I’m powerless to do so.
All in all, it’s a very awkward position. From now on, the book’s results will probably depend entirely on my own efforts.
To be honest, I’ve actually been quite happy writing this book—much happier than with my previous ones. I haven’t had to force the plot or twist the characters out of shape just for the sake of going against the grain or creating unnecessary angst. There’s been no loss of control over the story arc, no need to forcibly prop up the plot, and no collapse of the protagonist’s character.
So I plan to keep writing this book. Ideally, I expect my bookmarks to reach a thousand before publication, and ten thousand would probably be the absolute ceiling before the book wraps up. Without extra recommendations, no matter how hard I write, it’s all just wishful thinking. As for what the average subscriptions will be when the book is released, I’ll just leave that as a surprise for myself.
Now, about the frequent reader requests for more updates: I’d like to share another statistic. In terms of update volume during the same recommendation period, I ranked 3rd out of 22—top three. The top two are a veteran LV3 author and a high-performing fanfiction work.
So my update rate is already pretty fierce (seriously!).
Actually, I do have a bit of “update anxiety.” I’ve already stockpiled 100 chapters, which means that even during a busy week, I can still guarantee two chapters a day without missing a beat, and adding extra chapters isn’t a problem. But the “more updates for higher recommendations” promise I made—well, it seems the editor doesn’t want to give me that chance…
That’s about all my grumbling for now—I just want readers to know what’s going on. During this week of recommendations, I’m truly grateful for all your support. It’s made this week a happy one for me. Whenever I don’t feel like writing, I look at your comments or your reminders to update, and it gives me new motivation.
Next Monday, I’ll ask my editor if there’s still any hope for another shot.
In any case, I’ll keep writing, sticking to two chapters a day as always. If there’s a Guild Leader or any other big surprises, I can certainly add more updates—how many exactly is open to negotiation, just reach out to me. I’m very easy to talk to (trust me!).
That’s all for now! I am [???], and I will continue to bring you stories of the same quality as always. After all, for me, it’s better to finish the book properly at the right time rather than wasting time dragging things out, which saves both your time and mine.
That’s it for now~
