Chapter 143: Qian Youlai's "Little Sweetheart"
Jimei is incredibly considerate.
Of course, her consideration is not the kind that involves merely knowing how to change positions in bed. Rather, it is in their daily life that she looks after Chen Fang’s feelings and provides him with genuine thoughtfulness.
Chen Fang is a man of lust. He has never denied this. He is indeed captivated by Jimei’s body; after all, it is hard for any man to resist such a beautiful woman with such lingering charm. However, what truly makes Chen Fang addicted to Jimei are these small details in their life together.
Back on Earth, when Chen Fang slept with female celebrities, both sides were well aware that it was purely a physical relationship. In bed, they could be intimate, but outside of it, they never encroached upon each other’s lives. Though he hated to admit it, he always felt a sense of hollowness after such encounters—a fatigue far deeper than the physical exhaustion of a long night.
But Jimei is different. Because of her, Chen Fang has found a sense of home—something he never experienced in all his forty years of life on Earth. He wants to give Jimei a different kind of life, not the cold indifference of two people returning to their separate worlds after a night together, but a life where they are truly woven into the fabric of each other’s daily existence.
That is why he cares so deeply about her thoughts and feelings. Looking at Jimei, who was so close to him, his eyes were filled with the utmost tenderness. He stroked her hair and kissed her forehead lightly. "Since we are in this relationship, when will you take me to meet your parents?"
Jimei was stunned for a moment. She was certainly willing to take Chen Fang home, but he was a public figure, and she worried about the impact on his career.
Seeing her hesitation, Chen Fang smiled and pulled her closer. "I make a living based on my skills, so I want fans who appreciate my talent, not just my looks. If we lose fans because of our relationship, I won't feel a shred of regret."
Nestled in his arms, Jimei felt incredibly sweet. No matter how many times she heard these words, she never tired of them.
"And what about the acting gig?" she asked softly.
Chen Fang thought for a moment. "I need to wait for news from Xi Dong. The production team is only considering replacing the actor; nothing is set in stone yet. If they confirm the change, I’ll take the role."
Jimei was right about one thing earlier: Chen Fang needed to work hard to make money. He wanted to earn plenty to support her. Even if she eventually debuted as an artist herself, he wanted her to know that she wouldn't have to work so hard because he would always be there to back her up.
A fifty-million-dollar paycheck is hard to turn down. Moreover, the investor this time is Chuangxiang Entertainment. If they agree to replace the actor, Chen Fang’s salary will likely be paid by them, which he found quite amusing.
The night was quiet. Unlike their previous wild and rough encounters, they felt each other’s bodies with a newfound delicacy for the first time. There was less raw impulse and more tenderness. Of course, the result was that neither of them slept the entire night.
...
The next morning, Jimei had just fallen asleep. Chen Fang, however, did not sleep; he got up, showered, and got dressed. He couldn't sleep just yet; he needed to go to the company.
Despite not sleeping all night, Chen Fang felt quite refreshed. Perhaps it was because their intimate encounter had been so gentle, leaving him with no sense of being drained.
When he arrived at the office, Xi Yuanyuan and Wang Situ had not yet arrived. Chen Fang didn't pay much mind to it. Xi Yuanyuan had the freedom to set her own schedule, unlike the typical wage slave; she had the confidence and capital to be late, skip work, or even quit. As for Wang Situ, Chen Fang could guess why he wasn't there; after winning the championship the day before, he was likely at the hospital sharing the good news with his father.
"Morning, Brother Chen!" the receptionist greeted him, her voice as pleasant as ever. Her soft, melodic accent was truly endearing.
Chen Fang smiled and greeted her back, then thought of something and leaned against the counter. "By the way, is President Qian back?" He realized Qian Youlai had been gone for quite some time.
"President Qian is back," the receptionist lowered her voice, "and he brought a very beautiful woman with him." Everyone loves gossip, and her eyes sparkled as if she had just stumbled upon a massive scoop.
Chen Fang was slightly surprised. *Good grief! Did Qian Youlai bring his mistress to the office?*
Chen Fang quickly regained his composure. Putting aside the fact that this was Qian Youlai’s private business—which he had no right to interfere with—Qian Youlai was the boss of Future Stardom. Was it really a problem for him to keep a few mistresses? Not at all.
However, Chen Fang found it a bit reckless that Qian Youlai had brought her into the office so openly. If someone were to take pictures and post them online, it could cause trouble for both his family and the company.
"Is she really that good-looking?" Chen Fang asked with a smirk.
"She's gorgeous," the receptionist nodded vigorously.
Chen Fang pondered for a moment. Would it be unethical to go to Qian Youlai’s office right now? For a man, being interrupted mid-act could range from putting him in a bad mood to, at worst, causing him to lose his performance.
*Forget it!* He wouldn't look for Qian Youlai yet. He would wait for him to reach out.
With that thought, Chen Fang went to the recording studio for a while to record the official versions of the songs he had been working on, handed them to the publicity department, and then stopped by the finance department to check on the earnings from his other tracks. To his surprise, the settlement was over thirty million. Since he had previously drawn thirty million in advance, he would still receive a nice bonus once the final settlement date arrived.
This was already highly satisfying. Moreover, with his growing catalog of songs, the next settlement would only be higher.
By the time he finished everything, it was already afternoon. Chen Fang intended to leave, but suddenly thought of something and headed to the film department.
It was the same as usual: completely empty. The dust on the desks showed that no one had been there for a long time. Now that Xi Dong had invited him to act, Chen Fang felt an urgent need to rebuild the department. The main issue was copyright; if he had the company as a foundation, he could pull out some excellent scripts to test the waters without hesitation.
Chen Fang didn't just want to be an actor; he wanted to be a screenwriter, too. After all, it would be a shame to waste all the brilliant cinematic works from Earth.
He walked around and checked the time, guessing that Qian Youlai was likely gone for the day. "I’ll discuss the film department with him tomorrow."
This required Qian Youlai’s consent. Rebuilding the department was a massive undertaking, and it was expensive. Chen Fang didn’t have a dime to his name, so he had to rely on the wealthy Qian Youlai.
Just as he turned to leave, a familiar, cold voice rang out: "What are you doing here?"
