"Just tell me what it is over the phone. If it's really necessary, I can go to the office. Why would I go to your house?" Chen Fang glanced at the living room floor.

His clothes and Ji Mei's were all jumbled together, and they'd tossed them aside carelessly last night. He couldn't even find his underwear.

He didn't want to get dressed.

He didn't want to look for his clothes either.

And he certainly didn't want to go out.

Today, all Chen Fang wanted was to sleep here, preferably the entire day.

So when he heard Xi Yuanyuan asking him to leave, he was a hundred times unwilling.

Wasn't it much better to stay in this gentle embrace, snoozing away? Why bother getting dressed and running around outside?

Hearing this, Xi Yuanyuan gave a helpless look to Xi Dong and Liu Ke, who were both brimming with curiosity beside her. Xi Dong was supposed to be heading to the film set in Hengdian today, but she stayed home just to see Chen Fang. Liu Ke was even more over the top, urging Xi Yuanyuan to call Chen Fang over and having gone to the market to buy heaps of vegetables, fresh meat, and seafood.

The last time Xi Yuanyuan had such a grand family meal was for her grandparents' seventieth birthday.

Both Xi Dong and Liu Ke looked at her with hopeful faces.

Left with no choice, Xi Yuanyuan braced herself. "There are some important things I need to discuss with you. It’s best if you come to my house. I haven’t been to the office lately, so I really don’t want to make another trip there."

Oh!

So you’re lazy.

And I’m not?

Chen Fang grumbled internally.

Still, he didn't say that out loud. Instead, he thought for a moment and confirmed, "Is it really important?"

"It is," Xi Yuanyuan replied.

Chen Fang considered it.

He had just finished the third round of the "Starlight Road" auditions, and there was still some time before the official program began.

During this gap, he needed to follow the company’s arrangements and participate in another variety show.

Perhaps, what Xi Yuanyuan called important was related to this.

With that in mind, Chen Fang decided he couldn't refuse.

"Address?" he asked, bending over to look for his underwear as he spoke to Xi Yuanyuan on the phone.

To his surprise, Xi Yuanyuan’s home wasn’t far from Ji Mei’s villa. Even walking, it would only take him a little over ten minutes.

As expected!

The wealthy always cluster together.

This was what people called the affluent district.

After hanging up, Chen Fang lay on the floor, eyes half-closed, searching for his underwear but to no avail.

At that moment, a lazy voice spoke up, "What are you looking for?"

Ji Mei was awake.

Smiling, Chen Fang replied, "Looking for my clothes. How come you’re up?"

Ji Mei was instantly wide awake and ran over barefoot, hugging his waist. "Are you leaving?"

Though she was five years older than him, for some reason, she felt an inexplicable attachment to him.

Chen Fang knew exactly why. Here, he was just a man in his early twenties, but back on Earth, he was already forty—more than ten years older than Ji Mei.

There was a mature charm about him that belied his age, and it was this quality that made Ji Mei subconsciously feel younger around him. In truth, her feeling wasn’t wrong; under this young exterior was the soul of a forty-year-old man.

"Something came up at the company," Chen Fang explained. "It’s about scheduling."

He put his arm around her in return.

Hearing this, Ji Mei sensibly let go of him. "If it's company business, you should go."

Chen Fang kissed her forehead, carried her back to the bedroom, tucked her in, and got dressed. "Get some sleep. I’ll come back once I’m done."

Ji Mei murmured her assent, her eyes never leaving him.

Unable to find his underwear, Chen Fang simply went commando, pulling on a pair of thin pants over his bare skin before leaving the villa.

The pants were thin but not see-through, so he wouldn’t be exposed.

Umbrella in hand, Chen Fang followed the GPS directions at a leisurely pace toward Xi Yuanyuan’s house.

The rain was heavy.

He could feel his clothes getting damp, especially his pants—he was only wearing one thin layer. The rain seeped right through, running down his legs and into his shoes.

His pants, thin to begin with, were almost turning transparent in the rain.

"This is the kind of weather for staying in bed," he grumbled. "Who in their right mind goes out on a rainy day?"

Even if nothing else, Xi Yuanyuan could have driven over to pick him up.

Although he always got sleepy in her car, between dozing off and getting soaked, he’d rather be sleepy.

The walk that should have taken just over ten minutes ended up taking Chen Fang more than half an hour before he finally arrived at Xi Yuanyuan’s doorstep.

Gazing at the luxurious villa before him, Chen Fang fell into thought.

He suddenly realized something: even You Nianwei, that little green bean, had a whole street of restaurants in her family. As her close friend, just how wealthy could Xi Yuanyuan’s family be?

Now he saw for himself.

Xi Yuanyuan was a true heiress!

Her villa was twice the size of Ji Mei’s.

And this was the capital—a place where property prices were worth more than life itself.

To own such a massive villa here was not just a matter of money.

Chen Fang was silent.

The amusements of the wealthy were truly peculiar. Instead of living the easy life of a second-generation rich kid, she chose to be an agent at an entertainment company.

He rang the doorbell, and a face appeared on the LCD screen at the gate. Dressed in pajamas, Xi Yuanyuan greeted him, "Is that you, Chen Fang?"

"It’s me."

"I’ll have Aunt Wang come out to get you," she said, ending the video call.

Soon, a middle-aged woman opened the door and let Chen Fang in.

"Mr. Chen Fang, this way please," the housekeeper said with a slight bow.

Chen Fang nodded.

As soon as he stepped inside, Xi Yuanyuan hurried over and whispered by his ear, "Whatever my parents say later, just pretend you didn’t hear it."

"I thought there was something important?" Chen Fang asked.

What did this have to do with her parents?

Xi Yuanyuan looked a bit awkward but nodded solemnly, "Yes, there’s something important."

Hearing this, Chen Fang didn't think much of it and followed her inside.

The living room was twice the size of Ji Mei’s, and even more opulently decorated.

Chen Fang couldn’t help but wonder—what did Xi Yuanyuan’s family do to be this rich?

As he was still looking around, a middle-aged man seated on the sofa put down his newspaper and smiled at him. "Chen Fang, you’re here. Come, have a seat."

"This is my father," Xi Yuanyuan said quietly.

Chen Fang, a seasoned hand at this, stepped forward at once. "Hello, Uncle Xi. My name is Chen Fang, and I’m an artist with Future Stardom."

Xi Dong looked Chen Fang up and down for a long moment.

Good kid! Even better looking in person.

He motioned for Chen Fang to sit beside him. Xi Yuanyuan, being thoughtful, poured tea for both her father and Chen Fang. After taking a sip, Xi Dong asked in surprise, "You don’t seem to recognize me?"

Chen Fang: ?

Should I recognize you?

He looked at the man before him, sifting through his memories, but was certain they’d never met.

Seeing this, Xi Dong introduced himself, "My name is Xi Dong, Yuanyuan’s father. I’m a director."

In fact, Xi Dong carried many titles—Chairman of Xi Wang Film & Media, one of the top five directors in the country, or even Director of the National Radio and Television Administration...

Chen Fang’s expression grew odd.

He’d just drawn a Basic Acting Card at noon, and by afternoon he was at Xi Yuanyuan’s home, meeting her director father.

This damned system...

Could it predict the future?
