Chapter 121: Instantaneously Defeating Everyone on Screen
The second punch from Bai Yuxi finally electrocuted the mutated rats to death.
Yet from every corner and rat hole, increasingly plump and larger mutated rats kept pouring out nonstop, so much so that the number of mutated rats in the cavern showed no sign of diminishing.
After several consecutive punches, Bai Yuxi’s arms, having continuously discharged electricity, were numb to the point of almost losing sensation.
His skin began to char slightly, even emitting a surprisingly pleasant scent reminiscent of “electric roast chicken”!
“Old Hei! How many rats have you actually led here?” Bai Yuxi shouted anxiously, feeling his superactive energy rapidly depleting. “I can’t hold on much longer!”
Seeing Bai Yuxi struggle, the others in the Seventh Squad no longer dared to slack off and soak up experience passively. They fought desperately, attacking the mutated rats that lunged close, trying to share some of Bai Yuxi’s burden.
“Prepare to retreat!” Lofi decisively commanded, seeing the situation was no longer tenable. “Fall back along the way we came!”
They had nearly cleared the mutated rats along their original path, but now the new ones emerged from deeper within the cave. To prevent disaster, they had no choice but to fight while retreating, and if worse came to worst, they could call for backup from LDH.
As the group hugged the cavern’s walls, inching their way toward the exit, a sudden movement came from Bai Yuxi’s backpack behind him. Out popped a blue head, looking around curiously before swiftly leaping onto Bai Yuxi’s shoulder. Using its sticky pink tongue, it gave Bai Yuxi a loud smack!
“Little Blue! Stop messing around!” Bai Yuxi, busy with the battle, grimaced in disgust at the affectionate gesture.
But the endearing lizard cocked its head, watching Bai Yuxi’s fighting movements. Suddenly, it flicked its slender tail—longer than its body—and electric sparks converged along it. With a sharp crack, it unleashed a bolt of lightning!
Bai Yuxi heard a buzzing roar in his ear, his face numbed on one side. Instinctively, he wiped at his ear, only to find his hand covered in black soot!
“Ah!” he screamed, startling his nearby comrades who feared he had been injured.
Before anyone could ask, Bai Yuxi cried out indignantly, “My hair! It finally started growing back after half a month!”
Everyone instinctively looked at his head.
The two to three inches of short hair that had miraculously sprouted amid his rapid metabolism were now singed away, revealing a strangely unconventional half-shaved hairstyle.
The Seventh Squad members wore horrified expressions as they stared at the vividly colored, adorably goofy-looking lizard perched on Bai Yuxi’s shoulder.
Since it had crawled into Bai Yuxi’s pocket and followed him back to headquarters, the creature—named “Little Blue” by Bai Yuxi—had acted obedient and clingy. Despite having witnessed battles between it and the Abyssal Thunder Toad, the squad had been deceived by its innocent appearance, accepting it as nothing more than a pet lizard.
But now, Little Blue had revealed its terrifying side, frightening everyone to no small degree.
Though small in size, its danger level theoretically matched that of the Abyssal Thunder Toad—whose threat level remained a mystery to them all.
No matter how harmless or friendly it appeared, it was a boss-level dimensional creature!
Who knew if one day it might suddenly sneeze out a lightning bolt and wipe them all out?
Thankfully, since Bai Yuxi’s right arm had absorbed the Abyssal Thunder Toad’s electrop lasma substance and undergone mutation and evolution, his body’s resistance to electricity had greatly improved.
Apart from extremely high-energy electrop lasma, which could still cause some harm, ordinary electric currents no longer posed a threat.
Therefore, the lightning from Little Blue’s tail merely singed Bai Yuxi’s hair rather than striking him directly.
The lightning bolt, however, struck the pile of mutated rat corpses, instantly vaporizing them.
It then spread across the metal spikes and regenerative steel pellets that Xia Youyou had laid on the ground, forming a blazing high-voltage electric net!
Little Blue’s lightning was far more powerful than Bai Yuxi’s “Electroplasma Fist,” clearing the mutated rat horde in the cavern in a single strike, reducing them all to ashes.
Staring dumbfounded at the drifting black ashes and the glowing red spikes and steel beads under the high-voltage current, the group felt their minds were close to overload.
“Uh… should we still run?” Willy hesitated, glancing at his companions.
The recent surge of mutated rats had reached about F1 level danger.
The overwhelming cloud of supernormal energy particles nearly obscured their vision, making everyone reluctant to move.
Willy, clearly a fool, had poured too much lure agent, causing the pheromones to volatilize and spread deep into the cave.
This provoked the mutated rats to recklessly charge forward, eyes blazing red, filling the cavern again despite having been cleared moments ago.
With another sharp crack, Little Blue lazily flicked its tail once more, clearing the cavern again.
“…”
Lofi fell silent for a moment before suddenly saying, “I think we should rest here for a while. What do you all think?”
“Good idea!” Jason nodded seriously.
“Agreed!” Maya raised her hand to express her opinion.
“+1!” Willy quickly followed.
Bai Yuxi exchanged a glance with Chicken Leg and shrugged.
Though most of the supernormal energy released from the mutated rats’ deaths was absorbed by Bai Yuxi and Little Blue, the F1-level mutated rats possessed far more energy than their predecessors.
So even sharing a little broth was enough to greatly benefit the members of the Seventh Squad.
After wiping out dozens of waves of rat swarms back and forth, Little Blue seemed to have grown bored of this “whack-a-mole” game.
It licked its eyes, then curled its long tail several times around Bai Yuxi’s neck and promptly dozed off on his shoulder.
Fortunately, thanks to Little Blue’s unreasonable, all-encompassing instant kill, the area near their cavern now had very few mutated rats affected by the lure agent.
Meanwhile, Bai Yuxi’s superactive energy quickly recovered after he downed a hearty dose of “nutrient fluid” and “transparent soap,” aided by his hyper-evolution state, no longer requiring assistance. (To be continued.)
