“What are you doing?”

Zhang Chao sneered, not rushing to kill the already terrified Qu Yi, but instead slowly pressing forward.

As Qu Yi’s personal bodyguard, they naturally knew what kind of person he was—someone who relied on the prestige of Zhao Hu, captain of the Fierce Tiger Squad, to bully others.

Before awakening, this kid was nothing more than a timid loser, bullied and extorted by classmates from a young age.

A weakling who spent his days getting beaten up, trying to toughen his body, so much so that he developed psychological issues and had to drop out of school to recuperate at home.

No one expected that after being infected by drifting X particles, he would suddenly awaken as a superhuman.

Qu Yi completely changed from a reclusive, introverted boy to an outrageously arrogant and overbearing figure, bordering on madness.

Somehow, after joining the Fierce Tiger Squad, his vile personality only worsened.

He specialized in tormenting the weak, inflicting upon others the pain he once endured, taking pleasure in their helpless expressions of anger and hatred.

But a loser is a loser—his inherent cowardice and timidity did not change despite his newfound strength.

This was evident in how he never put himself in danger.

He never provoked members of teams stronger than the Fierce Tiger Squad.

Even now, with Zhang Chao and Zhao Han both badly injured and weakened, Qu Yi didn’t dare to fight back.

He cowered like a helpless child, babbling and crying out, “Don’t come near! Don’t kill me! I don’t want to die!” while trembling and retreating from the advancing Zhang Chao.

Seeing Qu Yi inadvertently back away close to the heavily mutated rat,

Zhang Chao narrowed his eyes, a strange smile curling his lips. He had no intention of killing Qu Yi himself.

By forcing him near the mutated rat, he could test whether the creature still had any fighting spirit, and also use its claws to finish off someone he had long wanted dead.

“Why aren’t you making a move?”

Before Zhang Chao could press further, Zhao Han, having dispatched some henchmen, cursed and strode over. “Keep dawdling and reinforcements will arrive!”

“Why panic now...” Zhang Chao turned leisurely, only to see a solitary flash of light slicing toward the back of his neck. Terrified, he swung his blade to parry and dove sideways!

Despite his desperate dodge, a deep gash tore open his back, nearly severing his spine!

“Zhao Han! You...”

Suppressing the pain, Zhang Chao flipped upright and clashed blades with a flurry of strikes.

His angry words began but were swallowed; the situation was clear—no need for questions. It was just betrayal among thieves.

“Brother! Don’t blame me!” Zhao Han sneered. “Better to take it all alone than share the pain, right?”

Their combat levels were comparable, but Zhao Han’s sneak attack left Zhang Chao gravely wounded.

Knowing he was doomed, Zhang Chao steeled himself and let out a wild roar, charging forward!

In the narrow circular tunnel, blades glowing with eerie light flashed fiercely as they battled intensely.

One fought desperately to strike back before death; the other aimed to kill swiftly to avoid complications.

The clash was brutal and bloody, energy arcs crisscrossing wildly, carving the surrounding rock walls into a jagged chessboard.

E-grade super soldiers wield energy levels often exceeding hundreds of millions of degrees.

When fully unleashed, the energy particles around their bodies formed visible radiant auras.

Their swift movements left blurred streaks of light in the air, too fast for the eye to follow.

Cowering in a corner, Qu Yi watched the savage duel between Zhang Chao and Zhao Han with terror, like a rabbit awaiting which predator would prevail.

A piercing scream rang out; the flashes of light abruptly ceased as both combatants revealed themselves again.

A regenerative battle blade protruded halfway from Zhang Chao’s back—his injured spine proving no match for Zhao Han’s ferocity.

But Zhang Chao’s dying counterattack was not without cost to Zhao Han.

His own regenerative battle blade was buried deep in Zhao Han’s shoulder, nearly tearing off half his arm.

Zhang Chao’s throat rattled as blood poured from his mouth.

His vacant eyes flickered with frustration, anger, despair, and fear.

In the end, only hollow confusion remained as he collapsed to his knees and fell face-first, dead, after Zhao Han withdrew the blade from his chest.

Zhao Han, also severely wounded, breathed heavily, ignoring the blood gushing from his numerous wounds.

He pulled out his bloodied regenerative blade from his shoulder.

Staggering, he limped toward the heavily mutated rat at the bottom of the circular tunnel, needing a massive supply of super vitality to heal his injuries.

The mutated rat, missing half its body from a previous strike, was almost lifeless.

Even the fierce battle nearby failed to provoke it.

But at critical moments, the plot always seemed to twist.

Just as everyone watching hoped—the villain always falls just one step short of success.

When Zhao Han summoned all his superhuman energy and raised his blade to stab the rat’s damaged head,

A sharp bony tail whipped out like a monstrous serpent, piercing Zhao Han’s armpit!

Having lost an arm, Zhao Han couldn’t even lift his hand to block, pierced through completely by the thick tail.

Unable to break free, Zhao Han wailed and wildly slashed his blade, the glowing arc stained crimson with his blood.

But his feeble struggles lasted only a few moments before his life faded away, and the energy glow vanished with his death.

The cavern at the bottom of the circular tunnel fell silent.

Only heavy breathing remained in the darkness, growing more frantic until hysterical, maniacal laughter suddenly exploded.

Qu Yi staggered out from the rock’s shadowy corner.

With Zhang Chao and Zhao Han dead, their released super energy had no one to absorb it.

In this nearly enclosed space, a dense particle mist formed, enveloping the sole survivor.

“Serves you right!”

“Good riddance!”

“Damn it! You think you can kill me?”

Trembling all over and still not fully free from the terror of death, Qu Yi raved incoherently, cursing like a madman, “You bastards all deserve to die!” (To be continued.)
