The members of the Seventh Squad were overflowing with extraordinary energy, which hissed and vented from their bodies. Even while huddled in a corner, they remained as conspicuous as fireflies in the dark of night. Once the chaos of the logistics operations had finally subsided, the soldiers of the LDH logistics unit eventually spotted these few "rats" who had been sneaking a break.

"Hey! I’m talking to you lot!" An officer in camouflage fatigues barked angrily. "Which combat squad are you from? Why are you hiding here slacking off?"

"Slacking off?" The members of the Seventh Squad exchanged glances. Willie muttered, "Hey soldier, which eye did you see us slacking off with?"

"Leave here at once! Your assigned defensive line is inside the mountain; what are you doing hiding in the logistics section? If you don't want to help defend against the extraordinary creatures, stay out of the core area. Did you just run in here to scavenge for supplies?" The officer shouted furiously, "I despise undisciplined, disorganized, and selfish extraordinary personnel like you! If you don't leave now, I will be forced to take measures!"

The officer’s shouting quickly drew the attention of many, and a squad of armed soldiers hurried over. Although firearms had lost their effectiveness against extraordinary personnel due to the "thermal weapon neutralization" effect, these soldiers, who originated from special units, still carried their standard-issue weapons.

"Who’s disorganized and undisciplined?"

"Which eye did you see me being selfish with?"

"What did extraordinary personnel ever do to you? Why are you throwing labels around the moment you show up?"

"We aren't robots. Does an extraordinary person deserve to be worked to death or something?"

The officer's tone displeased the hot-tempered Xia Youyou. "We’ve been fighting rats inside all night long. Is it wrong to come out and take a break?"

"You just came out from inside?" The sudden outburst from the petite girl took the officer by surprise. He frowned, looking over the somewhat disheveled members of the Seventh Squad, and said in astonishment, "Aren't you the members of the emergency reinforcement squad that was just mobilized?"

"We’d love to leave, but the problem is we can't get out, can we?" Xia Youyou planted her hands on her hips, her small stature clashing with the tall, sturdy officer, creating an almost comical contrast. "We just got out, and now you’re chasing us back in like you're trying to get us killed. Is there any humanity left in you? If you want us out, fine—open the barrier wall!"

As an exceptionally unique group, extraordinary personnel inevitably harbor a sense of superiority when dealing with ordinary people. Thus, many were rebellious and certainly didn't fear these fully armed soldiers. The logistics troops, the officer included, were merely unawakened ordinary people who posed no threat to the Seventh Squad, which was why the girl wasn't afraid of them.

"Zhou Hao! Keep an eye on them! Don't let them cause any trouble!" The officer, left speechless by Xia Youyou’s sharp tongue, realized he had misunderstood Bai Yuxi and the others. With a grim expression, he issued a sharp order and turned to stride away.

"Yes, sir! Mission guaranteed!" Second Lieutenant Zhou Hao stood at attention and saluted, watching his superior depart.

"Hey! You run over here, yell at us, and then just walk away?" Xia Youyou was stunned, having never been ignored like that before. "Get back here and explain yourself!"

"Sorry! Sorry! It's all a misunderstanding!" Second Lieutenant Zhou Hao was far more tactful than his stern superior. He waved his men away and, with a smile, quickly changed the subject. "Which squad are you from? And what is the situation inside?"

"Hello! We are members of the Seventh Squad of the Firebird Combat Team from the Jialuo Mountain Base." Since the Seventh Squad was also a registered LDH team, they shared the same camp as this special logistics unit. Not wanting to cause further trouble, Luo Fei grabbed Xia Youyou, who was bristling like an angry kitten, and gently explained the situation inside the mountain and why they were there.

Upon hearing that there was a "rat hole" leading to the core area in the outer perimeter, Lieutenant Zhou immediately notified his subordinates to report it to the LDH command center at the rear.

With one side not looking for trouble and the other intentionally trying to soothe them, combined with Willie’s inexplicable fondness for the dark-skinned Lieutenant Zhou, the naturally chatty foreigner was soon spilling the beans on everything they had encountered in the mountain under the Lieutenant's subtle prodding.

The rest of the Seventh Squad rolled their eyes as they watched the idiot foreigner draping his arm around Lieutenant Zhou, acting like long-lost brothers. It was obvious that the lieutenant, with his special forces background, was using interrogation techniques to extract information. Only someone with the intellect of an ape, like Willie, would be so happy, as if he’d run into a fellow countryman abroad.

Fortunately, he still knew what could and couldn't be said, and the lieutenant only asked questions about things ordinary people were curious about regarding the extraordinary world. Since the squad was part of the LDH logistics unit, they were exempt from the extraordinary restrictions, so the others couldn't be bothered to stop Willie. If he wanted to talk, let him—as long as he didn't bother them.

The group found a place to sit, content to quietly absorb and convert the extraordinary particles. If not for the fact that the surrounding logistics soldiers were ordinary people unable to perceive the particles, they would have noticed the steam-like aura venting from the squad members.

Bai Yuxi, neither needing to absorb the overflowing particles nor rest to recover his strength, simply leaned in to listen to their conversation, occasionally interjecting to ask what had happened and why there had been such a massive tremor.

Through the lieutenant's brief summary, Bai Yuxi and the others learned that before they had entered the core area, a C-class dangerous dimensional rodent creature, accompanied by several D-class mutant rats, had destroyed the barrier wall and broken out of the mountain. The extraordinary combat team responsible for suppressing the mutant rats had suffered heavy losses in the surprise attack, with many formidable D-class fighters being bitten to death.
