Chapter 157: Consciousness Transfer

Endless Transdimensional Invasion Troublesome. 2430 words 2026-03-27 04:12:08

Terrifying to think about! Could it be that the legendary concepts of mana, true qi, and internal energy are merely ancient terms for super-particles? But the dimensional anomalies on Earth only began six years ago, didn't they?

Bai Yuxi, utterly baffled, wore a strange expression. What on earth was this bizarre shift in tone from "science fiction" to "fantasy"?

"Besides sensing me," Su Xiaoke asked curiously, "can you sense others, or even yourself?"

Pulled out of his confusion by the brilliant student's wild imagination, Bai Yuxi regained his focus. Having only just mastered this derivative ability, he immediately closed his eyes to sense himself. Because his "God's Eye View" radiated outward from himself as the core, and he was accustomed to physical vision, he hadn't noticed anything odd about this perspective before. After all, human eyes are meant for observing the outside world; few people are narcissistic enough to keep their gaze perpetually fixed on themselves. This was why he hadn't realized his own presence within the "God's Eye View."

Now, prompted by Su Xiaoke, he focused the "God's Eye View" upon himself. To his surprise, he could only sense a blurred mass of light, which was far less distinct than when he observed others.

When Bai Yuxi focused his "God's Eye View" on other transcended warriors, he found that, like him, they possessed blue and orange energy in their chests and abdomens. However, unlike Su Xiaoke, they lacked the amber cluster of light in their brains. This confirmed the theory that the cranial light cluster was a unique trait of those with brain-type enhancements.

"Interesting..." Su Xiaoke mused. "It seems we need to study this more thoroughly."

Bai Yuxi nodded. The various strange phenomena of the extraordinary realm had only just revealed the tip of the iceberg to humanity. Without in-depth research or reference cases, it would be impossible to understand the bizarre phenomena constantly emerging in the extraordinary world in such a short time.

As they spoke, a slight tremor ran through the floor beneath them. The Y-45B began to taxi slowly, and with the roar of its propellers, it soon leaped into the air.

The members of the Seventh Squad, who had been off exploring the cabin, were herded back by the special logistics soldiers and told to sit in the seats folded down from the cabin walls. Having never ridden a military transport plane before, Ji Tui and the others were visibly excited. While fumbling with their seatbelts, they looked curiously at Bai Yuxi and Su Xiaoke, shouting, "What are you two whispering about?"

Bai Yuxi and Su Xiaoke exchanged a glance. They suddenly realized how difficult it would be to explain "electromagnetic induction" to them, and the roar of the transport plane made conversation incredibly strenuous. Bai Yuxi simply raised his hand, gesturing to the few regenerated steel balls still dancing in his palm, implying that they were discussing his new ability.

His teammates in the Seventh Squad knew that Bai Yuxi had been training his new power recently. They nodded in realization, lost interest, and turned away to fiddle with things around their seats. Soon, however, they grew bored and leaned back, drifting into a drowsy state. The other transcended warriors in the cabin were in a similar, if not worse, state than the Seventh Squad, who had at least rested for a week; they had already fallen into deep sleep.

Seeing that no one was paying attention to him, and feeling too energetic to sleep, Bai Yuxi began to train his electromagnetic ability openly. Staring blankly at the steel balls floating and spinning before him, he began to brainstorm how to apply this power in combat.

Suddenly, a clear "voice" echoed in his mind: "Xiaobai? Can you 'hear' me?"

Bai Yuxi jumped in surprise. The steel balls floating before him lost control and scattered across the floor with a clatter. He looked around subconsciously, only to find Su Xiaoke watching him with a look of wondrous amusement.

"What is it, Senior Sister Su?"

"What were you saying just now?"

Bai Yuxi paused, confused. "I was just daydreaming..."

Before he could finish, he realized something was wrong. A military transport plane was not a commercial airliner! To increase payload, the engine power was much higher than that of a passenger plane, and the noise suppression requirements were far less stringent. Normally, passengers would need specialized earmuffs and headsets to communicate in the cabin. The Y-45B, a cargo transport, was currently carrying one or two hundred transcended warriors; it was impossible for there to be enough headsets for everyone.

Bai Yuxi realized that because of the cabin pressure causing his eardrums to bulge, he could barely hear his own voice. Yet, the voice he had just heard—though not loud—was exceptionally clear.

"Stop looking!"

"I didn't speak!"

Seeing Bai Yuxi's startled expression as he scrutinized her, Su Xiaoke couldn't help but smile. "Isn't it amazing?"

Bai Yuxi's eyes widened. Now he understood. Su Xiaoke hadn't opened her mouth, yet her "voice" had rung out inside his mind!

"What is going on?" Bai Yuxi exclaimed, "Is this telepathy? Or mind reading?"

His shout woke a few nearby people, but the ambient roar of the cabin was so monotonous that it only made them more tired. After blinking up in confusion and seeing nothing out of the ordinary, they simply shifted to find a more comfortable position and went back to sleep.

"You don't have to speak out loud!" Su Xiaoke shook her head. "Just think about what you want to say to me in your heart, and I'll be able to understand it!"

"Senior Sister, have you awakened a new special ability?"

Understanding, Bai Yuxi closed his mouth and tentatively "thought" to Su Xiaoke, "Is this similar to Professor X's psychic powers?"

"It doesn't seem like it!"

"It should just be simple telepathic transmission."

Su Xiaoke thought for a moment and shook her head. "I can't probe into others' memories like Professor X, nor can I control their thoughts."

"I only discovered this after your reminder."

"I was trying to control the light cluster in my brain when I realized!"

"It turns out I can transmit thoughts into other people's minds!"

"However, for the two sides to communicate, the other person needs to actively establish a connection with me."

"And I don't know if it's because I'm not skilled yet, or if it only works between us brain-enhanced individuals."

Su Xiaoke's thoughts carried a hint of excitement: "It seems that for now, only the two of us can communicate; I just tried with others, and there was no response."
