Chapter 075: Particle Bombardment Fist - 3
The energy waves emanating from Bai Yuxi’s fist surged outward in concentric ripples, blasting the flying electric-plasma toads into a shower of blood and gore that splattered across the sky. Bai Yuxi himself grunted, his striking arm trembling violently; a mist of blood sprayed from his pores, dyeing his entire arm crimson.
Staggering back and clutching his wounded arm, Bai Yuxi bared his teeth in pain, but a hint of a smile crept onto his face—it worked!
His punch had exceeded his physical limits, but it validated the theory he had just deduced: by lowering the “output equivalence” and increasing the frequency of “particle strikes,” he could enhance both the destructive power and the scope of his attacks.
No matter how he adjusted the variables, even one ten-thousandth of the output equivalence (40.96 degrees) was sufficient to kill these low-threat toads, whose danger rating was merely 0.1 to 0.3.
Taking advantage of the shattered electric grid formed by the plasma toads, Bai Yuxi retreated swiftly and shouted toward Willie, who was wobbling to his feet behind him, “Old Black! Fall back first! I’ll hold them off!”
“What about you?” Willie’s tongue was still numb from the electricity, so he couldn’t protest Bai Yuxi throwing him so far earlier; slurring, shivering, and stuttering, he asked.
“Don’t worry about me—I can take it! Go find Captain Loffey and the others!”
Bai Yuxi’s super-active shield was thick enough to withstand the electric grid’s damage. But Willie, whose combat rank was only F3, would fare no better than a fly hitting a bug zapper—one crackle and he’d be charred.
“You be careful!”
“I’ll go get the boss to rescue you!”
Willie realized his presence would only drag Bai Yuxi down, so like a drunken duck, he staggered, tumbled, and scrambled toward the duty vehicle, making use of the momentary opening Bai Yuxi had created.
Seeing the cumbersome foreigner run off, Bai Yuxi exhaled in relief.
No wonder they say that super-warriors with vastly different combat levels are difficult to fight side by side; increasing numbers doesn’t necessarily boost strength, and can even hamper the higher-ranked fighters.
With Willie gone, Bai Yuxi no longer needed to protect his teammate, instantly freeing him from constraint—he could fight or flee as he pleased.
Yet, facing the plasma toad swarms that had “repaired” their electric grid and reconnected, Bai Yuxi had no intention of retreating.
Though his arm was injured in the previous blow, his body in its super-evolved state was already healing rapidly. Besides, he wasn’t limited to one arm—he still had two legs.
His last strike had affected nearly a hundred plasma toads, leaving not a single corpse intact.
Now, with experience, Bai Yuxi avoided reckless “9x9” attacks, instead reducing the frequency and scope to “6x6.”
Though the destructive power dropped substantially, his physical strength could just barely withstand it. As for energy consumption—a mere one ten-thousandth output, only forty degrees of X-energy spent, compared to his fifty thousand-plus X-energy reserve, the loss was negligible!
This meant he could sustain the fight, as long as his super-active shield wasn’t depleted; only his stamina would be taxed.
Ironically, due to his super-evolution, he might only have a few months left to live, but for now he was blessed with the “infinite stamina” and “infinite energy” buff.
Instead of retreating, Bai Yuxi charged directly toward the densest cluster of plasma toads.
He withstood another electric grid attack, losing tens of thousands in super-active energy, then smashed his fist into the swarm.
This strike, while its range shrank by a third, was even more devastating—nearly two hundred plasma toads were obliterated in one blow!
If this continued, he might single-handedly wipe out this horde of over ten thousand extraordinary creatures.
Especially since every punch shattered the newly-formed electric grid, and the individually weak toads could no longer threaten him.
After only a few attacks, the dense swarm had thinned considerably; Bai Yuxi’s high-frequency strikes prevented them from regrouping.
Wherever the toads gathered, Bai Yuxi charged in, giving them no chance to recover. The battlefield quickly became strewn with corpses and rivers of blood.
Once his right arm was healed, Bai Yuxi was like a heroic warrior—shield in his left hand, spear in his right—each penetrating attack unleashed layered waves of destruction among the toads. He was gradually mastering the “Particle Strike Fist,” wielding it with increasing ease.
After trampling several panic-stricken, fleeing plasma toads, and finding no more clustered enemies, Bai Yuxi grew bored of hunting them one by one. He stopped, still unsatisfied.
Surveying the ground, slick with entrails and viscera, Bai Yuxi gagged dryly and prepared to leave. But he noticed faint blue glowing liquid trickling among the foul remains. Curious, he crouched to examine it.
This luminescent substance seeped from the plasma glands behind the toads’ ears when ruptured, exhibiting an energy-like quality. Its ability to remain condensed inside their bodies was puzzling.
Hesitant, Bai Yuxi risked the possibility of poison and touched it lightly with his fingertip. A faint tingling sensation ran through him—clearly, the toads’ ability to spray plasma was closely related to this secretion.
Unfortunately, Bai Yuxi lacked a suitable container. Otherwise, he’d have collected some for the scholar to study.
Perhaps she could develop an X-energy weapon akin to the “Blazing Sphere”—the paralyzing effect of the plasma grid was unforgettable.
If he could replicate such an energy weapon, future battles against swarms would be far easier.
But with so many plasma toads here, there was no shortage of specimens. He could capture one after the mission.
Bai Yuxi wiped his fingers clean of the plasma substance and quickly headed toward the duty vehicle, unaware that the pale blue liquid on his right middle and index finger was slowly seeping into his skin.
