"This... Master, can't you just look at it yourself?" Lolita asked.

"Uh," Rin Tohsaka wanted to say something, but Lolita interrupted her.

"Well, calling you 'Master' is quite inconvenient. Can I just call you Rin?" Lolita asked.

"You should still call me Archer," Lolita said. "Now, Rin, close your eyes..."

The principle of alchemy is equivalent exchange: consuming an equal amount of mana to provide an equal item. Someone might ask, why not use Projection? Because Projection relies on understanding and a continuous supply of mana. For example, if Lolita projects a sword, she can revert it into mana and store it in her body when it's no longer needed, whereas a sword created through alchemy cannot be reclaimed as mana.

"Hiss," creating items out of thin air—even the Five Great Magics couldn't do that, could they?

"It's just alchemy of equivalent exchange, not creation," Lolita said dismissively to the stunned Rin.

"Uh... that's amazing enough. But..." Rin asked with a hint of anticipation, "Can you teach me that alchemy?"

"I could, but Rin, it’s the middle of the night. Don't you need to sleep?" Lolita pointed to the clock on the wall, which read exactly 2:00.

"..." Rin looked at the time, paused, and then ran toward the stairs. "Archer, just find any room on the first floor to sleep in. I need to get to sleep!"

"Beauty sleep?" Lolita watched Rin rush downstairs and brushed her silver hair. "Women have so many things to worry about! It's fortunate that we demons don't need to care. All wounds heal automatically, leaving no trace." With that, Lolita stood up, walked slowly downstairs, found a guest room, swept away the dust with wind magic, and lay down on the bed.
