Chapter 12: The Mighty Du Yousheng
Li Yunan had been extremely nervous, but what she hadn’t expected was that her cousin would gossip behind her back.
Li Feihu clapped his hands over his ears and quickly retreated a few steps, leaving Li Yunan lunging at empty air.
“Hey, hey, hey! It’s all set in stone now—Grandfather has already made his stance clear, so what’s the point in making such a fuss? You’ll see, this Du Yousheng may be fast, but does he have the fists for it? If I were to fight him, he’d be a strong opponent.”
“Really? Nothing will go wrong, will it?” A renewed tension flickered in Li Yunan’s eyes. At this moment, Feng Xu absolutely must not get hurt!
“Kill!”
The two-meter-tall figure roared, smashing a block of hard lapis lazuli with a single punch, then charged at Feng Xu like a tiger descending the mountain.
“Heh! Sis, relax, I’m here. You’d better go tend to the child instead. In such a short time, you need to get the child first. I’m an expert in this area.”
If Feng Xu is in any danger, I’ll jump in right away.
Li Feihu patted his chest proudly.
“Kill!”
A shout rang out.
“Kill him! You’re useless! We raised you in the Qi family specifically to deal with the likes of him. He’s a traitor to the nation—no one will blame us for finishing him off.”
Tang Shan shouted furiously at Du Yousheng, but despite their considerable efforts, they couldn’t turn the tide.
Wasn’t Feng Xu supposed to be a scholar? Yet in battle, he was nimble, dodging several of Du Yousheng’s attacks with ease.
“You punk! If you’ve got guts, come down and fight me to the death. Hopping around like that—does that count for anything? Your agility is just a bit better than mine. If you’re really capable, fight me in close quarters!”
Du Yousheng gritted his teeth, not daring to talk back to Tang Shan at this moment. The situation was getting out of hand.
Feng Xu’s lips curled into a faint smile as he watched Du Yousheng, who was panting heavily, clutching a pillar. He could tell the man’s external martial arts—his “Golden Bell Shield” and “Iron Shirt”—had been weakened from all that running.
Besides, he hadn’t always been holed up in a laboratory; he had his own affairs to tend to. As for tonight’s secret dealings, he’d managed to evade Ye Guo’s surveillance, and if anyone could track him, it would only be Grandfather.
Feng Xu leapt from the window, planting his front foot lightly as he landed, back foot halting, and took a deep breath.
“Now I can deal with you all.”
He raised his arms, and beneath his suit, muscles rippled and swelled. His entire body seemed to hum with circulating energy, and the crackling of his joints echoed through the air.
“This… What is this…”
Du Yousheng stared in shock at Feng Xu’s sudden transformation, eyes wide. He stumbled back two steps.
“Tang Shan, I’m done here! None of this has anything to do with me anymore. Feng Xu, do whatever you want!”
With a shriek, Du Yousheng turned and fled the courtyard, vaulting over a wall more than two meters tall in a single leap.
“What are you doing? All you have to do is defeat this guy—why are you running? How are we supposed to deal with him now?”
Tang Shan roared, baffled by Du Yousheng’s sudden flight. Especially when he looked at Feng Xu, he felt as if he were staring into the eyes of a demon.
“Trying to run?”
Feng Xu let out a cold laugh. He had come to punish the Qi family, but seeing how ruthlessly Du Yousheng had acted, he felt justified in meting out some vigilante justice tonight.
As he finished speaking, he charged forward with a heavy step, sending a slab of bluestone flying out of the courtyard.
A scream echoed behind him as Feng Xu turned his gaze toward Tang Shan.
“Tang Shan, my daughter has suffered abuse here. Now, it’s your turn.”
Feng Xu’s words sounded like the death knell of the underworld. He stepped toward Tang Shan, fist clenched, while those around him began to retreat in fear.
“You lot! You’re the Qi family’s bodyguards—get him! Whoever kills Feng Xu will be richly rewarded—one million for each of you!”
Tang Shan shouted, hoping his wealth would turn the tide. Feng Xu’s fury was boiling over, and Tang Shan doubted he would survive a single punch. Better to send the others in first.
The would-be deserters, hearing the promise of a million each, clenched their fists and surged toward Feng Xu.
Du Yousheng had just been defeated by Feng Xu, his scream still ringing in their ears—but a million was a million. Their fear vanished, replaced by greed.
“Still willing to aid a tyrant?”
A glint of icy malice flashed in Feng Xu’s eyes as he kicked down three of them. Leaping high, he struck with a sweeping kick, sending four or five more crashing to the ground.
“Kill!”
Amid the chaos, two men broke from the crowd, moving as one, each drawing a dagger.
Feng Xu twisted aside, dodging their blades, and seized both knife handles in an instant.
“Since you two want my life, let me give you a punishment.”
His eyes flashed coldly as he spun the daggers. Instantly, the two men were clutching their arms, rolling on the ground in pain.
“Oh my god…”
Tang Shan screamed. To him, Feng Xu was like a god of slaughter. In terror, he turned and fled into the house.
“Trying to run? You haven’t asked for my permission.”
A cold smile played at Feng Xu’s lips as he kicked the floor with all his might, sending a block of lapis lazuli crashing into the wall.
Bang!
A thunderous crash resounded as the stone fell from the wall, exposing a hidden layer of steel beneath the battered plaster.
“It seems the Qi family has done a lot of dirty deeds. But you won’t get away from me.”
A cruel smile flickered in Feng Xu’s eyes as he vaulted up to the second-floor window.
“Come out.”
His gaze swept the room, and in a flash, he leapt down to the first floor.
“Y-you! I’m warning you, don’t come any closer! If you cross our Qi family, you’ll be offending powers far beyond your imagination!”
