Chapter 15: Tidying Up
Feng Xu smiled faintly, a chill passing through his heart. If such a person escapes punishment, then heaven truly must be blind.
“Of course! Hurry up, as soon as you sign this document it’ll take effect. I’ll let you and your people leave, but everyone behind you must sign as well! I don’t believe these folks are from our Dragon Nation—they’re probably from Leaf Nation, aren’t they?”
A smug grin curled at the corner of Qian Houli’s mouth. This guy still seemed to have some sense.
But the next words changed his opinion of Feng Xu.
“What if I refuse?”
Feng Xu raised his eyelids and smiled.
“Refuse? Just who do you think you are? Do you even know who you’re talking to? You dare say no to me?”
Qian Houli’s eyes widened in fury. His hands gripped the iron bars so tightly, his gold teeth looked ready to bite Feng Xu clean.
“Calm yourself, calm yourself. You’d better rein in that temper, or you’ll regret it soon enough.”
Feng Xu waved his hand lightly, quickly stepping back two paces. Whenever Qian Houli spoke, spittle flew everywhere.
He glanced over at Li Yunan.
Li Yunan nodded slightly, a sly smile flickering in his eyes. This was their first time working together, and unexpectedly, it had gone quite smoothly.
“Bah!”
Qian Houli spat. He couldn’t care less how powerful Feng Xu was.
“You traitor, you’d best behave yourself in Dragon Nation, and don’t think you can trick me! That evidence the girl’s holding may look convincing, but you won’t get it out of here!”
“My advice is to cooperate and do as I say, or you’ll both be stuck here along with your whole group.”
Qian Houli spoke again, waving his arm. Four more men stepped forward, joined by a crowd behind them, cold smirks in their eyes as they gripped their batons.
“Make them shut up.”
Feng Xu looked utterly relaxed, watching Qian Houli’s brazen arrogance, but he had no interest in meddling further.
Li Yunan didn’t hesitate, rummaging in his bag and producing credentials.
“Qian Houli, your words just now are already evidence. As for your actions, as Dragon Fang special forces, these men are the best witnesses!”
He flipped open his credentials and held them up in front of Qian Houli.
The Dragon Fang soldiers burst out in laughter, their mission today was to protect Feng Xu.
But they hadn’t expected to witness such a dramatic scene—Qian Houli daring to extort, and Feng Xu accepting bribes himself. To them, it was the funniest thing imaginable.
“This… this…” Qian Houli’s eyes filled with terror. He saw clearly now—these were credentials from the Command Bureau! The anti-forgery marks were more advanced than their own; the level was unmistakable.
“What’s going on, boss?”
“Yeah, boss, say something! How could these guys be here?”
“I heard Dragon Fang’s gone overseas for operations. These guys must be bluffing.”
“They don’t have many people—those four plus two, just six.”
“They’re just making trouble, nothing but nonsense.”
Several men stepped forward, shocked but trying to keep calm, watching Qian Houli for cues.
Qian Houli gritted his teeth, clenching his fists.
“So what if you’re Dragon Fang? You can’t prove it! These credentials could be forged. You lot are truly despicable.”
“Led by a traitor, threatening me to say these things—today, you’ll never leave.”
He waved his arm, and instantly a squad of inspectors raised their batons, ready to charge.
They had no idea what had really happened, but following Qian Houli’s command, they prepared for action.
“You’d better think twice.”
Li Yunan’s eyes widened in disbelief—how could Qian Houli be so reckless? He had revealed his credentials, but Qian Houli didn’t care at all.
“I’ve made up my mind. Your actions have enraged heaven and earth! Brothers, go! Seize this traitor!”
“These guys are spies!”
Qian Houli roared. They had the numbers; if something went wrong, it wouldn’t be their fault.
“You traitor, today you face your final judgment.”
“Brothers, don’t hold back—he’s already betrayed the nation!”
“Leaf Nation’s dog, today you’ll taste your grandfather’s fists!”
“Disgusting wretch, I’ve wanted to beat you for ages!”
…
The squad of inspectors vaulted over the iron railing, turning Feng Xu and his group into their enemies.
“Do you even know what you’re doing?”
Li Yunan gritted his teeth, pulling Feng Xu back two steps, shielding him behind. He forgot everything Feng Xu had just done.
Crack, crack.
Li Feihu twisted his neck, bones popping as he clenched his fists.
“Feng Xu, sis, you two go ahead—I’ll cover the retreat. Haven’t sparred with these guys in ages!”
Li Feihu grinned, these men meant nothing to him, and their disdain for Dragon Fang had irked him.
“Good! Feng Xu, let’s go—the child’s still in the car. We’ll leave out the back.”
Li Yunan seized Feng Xu’s wrist, urgency in her voice.
“Can you handle them alone?”
Feng Xu smiled calmly; these people were beneath his notice, but Li Feihu still puzzled him.
“If my sister trusts me, why shouldn’t you? Hurry up! If you want to watch my skills and try to steal them, I won’t allow it!”
A faint smile appeared on Li Feihu’s lips as he charged forward.
“What speed!”
Feng Xu smiled serenely, watching Li Feihu’s figure—clearly, he was more than capable.
