Chapter 107: Cornered to Self-Destruction (Support with Votes and Subscriptions)
“Run!”
This seasoned High Divine being knew all too well the terror that Ko Bei represented. Although it had never faced Ko Bei in combat, it was fully aware of his dreadful record: surviving an onslaught by ninety-eight High Divines, slaughtering seventy of them, and then calmly retreating. At the very moment Ko Bei charged forward, only one thought surged through its mind:
Run. Run like mad!
Boom!
With a fierce stomp, all its strength exploded forth. The High Divine cracked a deep pit into the earth beneath its feet and, like a bolt of lightning, bolted desperately toward the outpost’s edge.
Human power was simply too fearsome. Even with the remaining twenty-nine High Divines united, they stood no chance against him. So this High Divine fled outright.
Though it didn’t know why, the humans seemed to be targeting only High Divines. Anxiety gnawed at its heart, yet there was a faint hope: if it could engage with Mid- or Low-level Divines, it would be far harder for the humans to track it down.
After all, finding a single High Divine among over ten thousand Divines was no small feat—unless the humans wiped out every last one. If that happened, it would have ample time to escape.
“Trying to run?”
A cold smile curled at Ko Bei’s lips. The High Divine’s burst of speed was swift, but it still lagged behind his own limit. Besides, it was barely ten meters away from Ko Bei.
“Die!”
The robust, scorching internal energy of the Nine Suns Divine Art surged furiously into Ko Bei’s legs. In an instant, he unleashed his top speed, leaving afterimages in his wake. A deafening sonic boom accompanied the next moment, as Ko Bei suddenly appeared behind the High Divine.
Boom!
His fist, brimming with dense internal power, smashed brutally into the High Divine’s back. Instantly, the searing energy of the Nine Suns Divine Art flooded into the creature’s body like a dam breaking.
Bang!
The moment the internal energy surged into the High Divine, it converged sharply at the Divine Core located between the creature’s brows. With a crisp crack, the Divine Core shattered under the intense heat.
Crash!
As the Divine Core broke, the High Divine’s body froze mid-run. Its pupils dilated wildly. With a thunderous impact, it crashed to the ground, kicking up a cloud of dust. This High Divine, who had been desperate to flee, was instantly slain by Ko Bei.
At the very moment Ko Bei dispatched this High Divine, inside the massive pyramid, the remaining twenty-eight High Divines finally reached a decision.
“Let’s go—kill that human! Seventy-one High Divines have fallen at once; we cannot bear such a burden!”
Murderous intent blazed fiercely in their violet eyes.
“Fight to the death! It’s either him or us!”
“Better to be punished by the Divine King than to die! Humph. The human is already badly wounded. We still have a chance!”
“Let’s move!”
“Let’s move!”
Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!
The High Divines steeled themselves, embracing a death wish to take Ko Bei down.
But the moment they stepped out of the pyramid, their footsteps froze. Their eyes widened in shock as they stared directly at the figure ahead.
A human.
The human had already arrived here.
“Gentlemen, where are you off to? Ha, are you looking for me?”
Ko Bei’s face bore a calm smile as he took slow, steady steps toward the twenty-eight stunned High Divines.
“Hmph, human! I didn’t expect you to dare come here to meet your death!”
One High Divine, marked by a scar across his forehead, glared coldly at Ko Bei. Although his expression was fierce, inside he was engulfed by raging waves of anxiety.
If a human dared to come directly to the heart of the outpost, then this human was probably not injured!
At this thought, the scarred High Divine’s heart turned icy cold.
He knew well how terrifying Ko Bei’s strength truly was. Even all ninety-eight High Divines combined had been no match for him earlier. If the human was truly unscathed, then the remaining twenty-eight High Divines stood no chance of victory.
“What do we do?”
The scarred High Divine panicked.
“Wait! The second elder has gone to summon the Divine Lord. Hold on! Hold on until the Divine King arrives!”
Suddenly, the scarred High Divine’s eyes brightened. He recalled the aged High Divine who had gone to seek the Divine King and felt a slight relief.
If Ko Bei was unharmed, they were utterly outmatched. Their only hope rested on that elder’s arrival.
Little did they know—their only hope had already been slain by Ko Bei.
“Hahaha! I’m here to die, after all!”
Ko Bei laughed heartily. With a fierce stomp, the Nine Suns internal energy surged wildly as he unleashed the Lotus Step to its extreme. Clear afterimages lingered in the air. In the blink of an eye, Ko Bei was before another High Divine.
Boom!
All the Nine Suns Divine Art energy in his dantian poured out. Ko Bei aimed for a swift victory—no reserves.
“Get lost!”
The High Divine’s pupils contracted sharply as Ko Bei charged. Planting his feet firmly, he sprang backward, his fist imbued with terrifying force crashing toward Ko Bei’s head.
“Attack!”
At the moment Ko Bei launched his strike, the other High Divines exchanged glances and unleashed their full power, striking at Ko Bei with relentless fury.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
As Ko Bei’s fist hammered the High Divine, his back, chest, and head were simultaneously struck by twenty-eight High Divines.
Bang!
Ko Bei was blasted backward, while the High Divine he struck collapsed lifelessly.
“First one down!”
Ko Bei flipped several times midair, dissipating the brutal forces. Upon landing, he sprang forward with the Lotus Step again, becoming a streak of afterimages as he targeted another High Divine.
“Fight to the death!”
Seeing their comrade instantly felled, the remaining High Divines’ eyes turned bloodshot. They understood all too well: if they didn’t fight with everything they had, they would soon fall one by one.
“Brothers, I’m going ahead!”
As Ko Bei surged toward a High Divine, the creature did something unexpected—it did not dodge. A resolute gleam flashed in its eyes as it charged forward, arms like iron clamps wrapping tightly around Ko Bei. With a piercing roar, its body suddenly exploded!
Boom!
This High Divine had self-destructed!
Every Divine possessed a Divine Core between their brows, containing immense power. Using secret techniques, a Divine could detonate this core, unleashing devastating energy that shattered their iron-hard body to pieces.
Instantly, the ferocious energy surged toward Ko Bei.
This sudden calamity unfolded so swiftly that Ko Bei barely had time to react before the High Divine holding him exploded. The brutal force struck him hard.
Bang!
Ko Bei was blasted backward. His top-tier Phantom Series black battle armor tore apart under the shock, revealing his faintly golden body beneath.
“Push forward! We can’t let the Thirteen fall in vain!”
The remaining High Divines gritted their teeth fiercely. Bloodshot veins popped in their violet eyes as they roared in fury. Before Ko Bei could land, the twenty-seven High Divines hammered him with their terrifying fists.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
The deafening sonic booms reverberated. Each High Divine could easily break the sound barrier, and in their fury, their strikes reached terrifying speeds.
The relentless barrage pounded Ko Bei from midair, sending him crashing deep into the earth, about four or five meters underground, finally halting their assault.
Ko Bei lay prone in the crater, looking utterly battered. His black battle armor was shredded to tatters, dust clinging to his body. His head was buried deeply in the soil, motionless as if dead.
“Is he dead?”
The twenty-seven High Divines stared solemnly at Ko Bei’s motionless form in the pit. After a long silence, one whispered softly.
Ko Bei’s ears rang with a continuous roar. The self-detonation of the High Divine had severely damaged his eardrums. He felt a dull ache throughout his body—not severe, but enough to shock him.
Since cultivating the Vajra Indestructible Body, this was the first time he had truly felt pain.
Ko Bei never imagined Divines could self-destruct. Nor did he expect such explosive power from a single High Divine’s detonation.
Few humans had ever forced a High Divine to self-destruct.
If it was a War God-level expert killing a High Divine, the Divine never had the chance to self-destruct. And no human Ascendant-level cultivator had ever forced a High Divine to such an extreme—until Ko Bei.
He was the first human in history to force a High Divine to self-destruct.
Just as the remaining High Divines believed Ko Bei was dead, the figure in the pit stirred slowly. To their astonishment, Ko Bei rose to his feet.
“Cough, cough... that really hurts!”
Ko Bei looked down at his shredded black armor, coughing lightly to expel dust from his mouth.
“Still alive!”
“No way... no way!”
The remaining Divines stared dumbfounded at Ko Bei’s slow recovery, mouths agape, struggling to believe.
“Damn! I can’t hear anything!”
Ko Bei’s expression shifted abruptly. Hearing nothing from the Divines’ open mouths, a chill swept through his heart. His ears were completely deafened.
