Internal force surged through him as he unleashed the Untraceable Wave Step. A clear afterimage lingered where he had stood, and in the next instant Ke Bei was already behind Hei Qin. A fist laden with thick, roaring inner force slammed brutally into Hei Qin’s neck.

“Haha, useless! You can’t kill me!”

Even after being struck, Hei Qin showed the slightest trace of panic. He laughed wildly and spoke with calm contempt.

“Is that so?”

Ke Bei snorted coldly, then suddenly sprang up and drove a vicious elbow into Hei Qin’s neck.

Boom! Boom! Boom!

Ke Bei no longer paid any attention to Hei Qin. His fists, carrying terrifying force, poured down like a storm, frenziedly pounding Hei Qin’s neck. He did not attack anywhere else; he attacked only the neck, madly, from every angle, front and back, left and right, in relentless assault.

Ke Bei’s reasoning was simple. So your body is made of metal, Hei Qin? Then I’ll beat you until you bend. He kept hammering at Hei Qin’s neck until it was flattened and warped beyond recognition.

“That should be about enough.”

Looking at Hei Qin’s neck, now stretched long and narrow after that savage beating, Ke Bei’s lips curled into a bloodthirsty, almost deranged smile.

“Hmph, I told you it was useless!”

Hei Qin did not know what Ke Bei was up to, but he had absolute confidence in his own Metal-Splendor Body. No matter what Ke Bei did, he could not possibly be killed. Since Ke Bei was faster and Hei Qin himself could not feel pain, he simply stood there and let the blows land.

“Useless?”

Ke Bei grinned, wrapped his elbow tightly around Hei Qin’s battered, lengthened neck, and with a light leap landed in a half-crouch on Hei Qin’s shoulder.

“What... what are you doing?”

A bad feeling suddenly surged through Hei Qin’s heart, and his voice trembled.

“Kill you!”

Ke Bei roared low. Every muscle in his body swelled at once. Strength greater than that of more than two hundred ordinary men exploded forth, and at the same moment the Nine Suns Divine Skill in his dantian surged out with wild force.

“Die, you bastard!”

Veins bulged on Ke Bei’s forehead, and the blood vessels on his face writhed like worms. That immense strength, combined with the inner force of the Nine Suns Divine Skill, erupted in an instant. His feet pressed against Hei Qin’s shoulder, and his arm locked tightly around Hei Qin’s head. With a low bellow, Ke Bei’s crouched body suddenly drove upward, every trace of power in his calves, thighs, and arms twisted into one. Holding Hei Qin’s neck in a death grip, he began to stand.

Ke Bei was going to tear Hei Qin’s head clean off.

“No! No!”

Feeling his neck being stretched longer and longer, Hei Qin finally panicked. He was afraid.

“Break for me!”

Ke Bei shouted thunderously, his body rising inch by inch as Hei Qin’s neck was stretched farther and farther.

Crack!

As Ke Bei’s body continued to straighten and Hei Qin’s neck was pulled to its limit, it was finally like a band of elastic reaching the end of its stretch. With a crisp snapping sound, Hei Qin’s neck was torn apart by Ke Bei.

“Hahahaha!”

Ke Bei clamped Hei Qin’s severed head tightly under his arm and shot upward. He rose more than ten meters into the air before the force finally dispersed.

Whoosh, whoosh!

Untraceable Wave Step.

Ke Bei lightly tapped down several times on the green bamboo with the tips of his feet and slowly descended, casually tossing Hei Qin’s head to the ground.

For a Transcendent Realm expert, the energy core lies between the brows. Every Transcendent Realm expert has a diamond-shaped energy crystal there. Once Hei Qin’s head was torn away, his body lost its supply of energy. The golden sheen upon him slowly faded, and in the blink of an eye he returned to flesh and blood. The instant that transformation occurred, blood burst from the severed neck in a column like a fountain.

“No!”

Hei Qin was left with only his head, and when he saw his body spraying blood, he let out a desperate howl.

“I said I would kill you.”

Ke Bei slowly walked to Hei Qin’s head and lifted it by the hair. Then he strolled to the body that was still gushing blood and brought his foot down hard upon it.

Boom!

The moment Ke Bei’s foot crashed down, the inner force of the Nine Suns Divine Skill suddenly surged into Hei Qin’s body. With a thunderous blast, Hei Qin’s corpse exploded apart!

A rain of blood, mixed with fine bits of flesh, drifted slowly to the ground.

Hei Qin watched helplessly as his body turned to fragments. He was utterly despairing now. He knew he was finished. All that remained was a head, and once the energy in the crystal between his brows was exhausted, his death would be complete.

Ke Bei looked at Hei Qin’s head with indifferent eyes. He stomped once more, and with a surge of inner force, a deep pit suddenly appeared.

“Rest in peace!”

Ke Bei laughed viciously, seized Hei Qin’s head with both hands, and smashed it down hard into the pit.

Boom!

Ke Bei’s strength was immense. Hei Qin’s head was driven deep into the earth. Glancing once at the dark hole made by the impact, Ke Bei stomped again, sending dust flying until the pit was completely buried.

Only after all this was done did Ke Bei let out a long breath. He raised his head to look at the silver moon in the dark sky, stood silent for a moment, then slowly made his way out of the bamboo grove.

Crossing the green bamboo forest and walking through the night, Ke Bei returned to his dormitory. After firmly closing the door, he went straight to the bathroom, washed up, changed into a brand-new silver battle suit, and sat in the cultivation room for a while. But no matter what he did, he could not calm his heart.

With a slow exhale, Ke Bei stood, left the cultivation room, climbed the stairs to the rooftop, and cast a long look toward Azure Dragon Lake. Under the moonlight, he sat down cross-legged, though he did not begin to cultivate. He simply sat there in silence.

After all, Hei Qin had been one of the top thirty experts on the Azure Dragon Rankings. Having killed him, Ke Bei knew the Nine Rivers Genius Training Camp would sooner or later discover the truth, and when that happened, trouble would be unavoidable.

There would be some trouble, certainly, but Ke Bei was sure the Nine Rivers Genius Training Camp would not truly do anything to him. After all, his current strength was already enough to rank within the top ten of the Azure Dragon Rankings, perhaps even the top five. Moreover, news that he had obtained the third layer secret technique of the Skyward Tower should already have reached the upper echelons of the camp.

For that reason, whether because of his strength or his potential, the Nine Rivers genius training base would never punish him too severely.

Even so, trouble would still come, and Ke Bei was the sort of person who hated trouble. If Han Lingyue were not still sealed beneath Azure Dragon Lake, he might already have left the Nine Rivers Genius Base. He had come here for one purpose only: to complete the second chained mission of the Nine Suns Divine Skill. Now that the mission was finished, there was little point in staying any longer.

But now he could not leave. At the very least, he would not depart the Nine Rivers Genius Base until Han Lingyue had been released.

And so Ke Bei sat cross-legged in silence through the entire night. Even he did not know what had been passing through his mind. By the time dawn came, the night had already gone.

Early the next morning, Ke Bei heard a rapid knocking at the door.

The instant he opened it, he gave a wry smile. He had not expected the people from the Nine Rivers Genius Training Camp to be so efficient. It had only been one night, and they had already come.

“You are Ke Bei, correct? Please come with us to the War God Palace.”

The moment Ke Bei opened the door, a cool voice reached his ears.
