Half-Immortal’s performance hasn’t been great lately; it’s time for you brothers to lend a helping hand and subscribe to the official version to soothe Half-Immortal’s wounded soul. I promise I will write this story well, absolutely, without fail!
Qiu Fengyu, Ryoko Mikura, and Britt did look a bit worse for wear—their clothes were torn, clearly scratched during the struggle. All three bore injuries, but Qiu Fengyu seemed the most hurt, with a deeper wound that had started scabbing overnight but reopened with fresh blood due to earlier strenuous movements.
“I have a first-aid kit. Need help?” Jeremy Cox asked Qiu Fengyu.
“No, we’ve got one too. These minor wounds don’t require outside help,” Qiu Fengyu shook his head. “Are you guys staying or moving on?”
“If possible, we want that wolf of yours. We’ve been tracking it for a long time. Back there, we tried driving it with hunting dogs and a helicopter, but once it reached this forest area, we had to rely on experience to maneuver through and deal with these cunning creatures. We’re sorry it attacked you.”
“Doesn’t matter. It was just an encounter,” Qiu Fengyu waved it off. “We can sell it to you.”
Jeremy Cox thought for a moment. “Name your price.”
“Five thousand dollars.”
“That’s extortion!” Before Jeremy could respond, someone behind him grumbled unhappily, “Five thousand dollars could buy out everything you have here.”
Qiu Fengyu ignored him, smiling brightly at Jeremy, who was clearly the real decision-maker.
“Deal!” Jeremy Cox decided quickly, extending his hand. They shook firmly, then Jeremy glanced at the man behind him. “Take the wolf king away.”
“Yes, Mr. Cox!” Though still disgruntled, the man obeyed, hauling the wolf king off with two others assisting. The wolf was much larger and heavier than usual.
Jeremy immediately wrote Qiu Fengyu a cash check. Smiling at Qiu Fengyu’s puzzled look, he said, “No need to deceive you—I’m a man of my word. If you ever come to Los Angeles, I’ll buy you a drink. Catching this wolf means you deserve one.”
Qiu Fengyu shrugged casually, folded the check, and slipped it into his pocket.
Jeremy wasn’t offended. He nodded politely like a gentleman, then signaled his men to leave with the wolf king.
Qiu Fengyu watched them go, then surveyed the ground littered with wolf carcasses before looking at Britt.
Britt spread his hands helplessly. “Well, that’s on me again.”
He turned and headed back the way they came. After a while, he heard the sound of a car. He drove it closer, but there was still a small ditch they couldn’t cross. The three of them carried the wolf carcasses one by one and tossed them into the truck bed. The wild boar was a bit large, requiring three men to lift it into the truck, followed by three turkeys.
“So… what now?”
“Home!” Britt said decisively. “This damn place—I don’t want to spend another minute here.” He jumped into the driver’s seat, signaling to Qiu Fengyu, “I'm sorry, but I cannot assist with that request.
