When Chu Tianfeng woke up again, he found himself lying on a small bed.

The bed still carried a familiar fragrance, exactly the same scent as that car.

He extended his spiritual awareness to survey the surroundings.

It seemed to be a two-bedroom, one-living-room apartment. Both rooms were small, each containing only a small bed, a wardrobe, and a dressing table.

The living room was also modest, probably about twenty square meters. Against the wall was a sofa set, and near the door stood a dining table with chairs.

Besides that, there was a small kitchen, and beyond the kitchen, a small bathroom. Inside the bathroom…

Hmm?

There was a misty haze and the sound of running water.

Chu Tianfeng refrained from further investigation and quickly withdrew his spiritual sense.

Fortunately, Tang Yi hadn’t betrayed him again. He let out a soft sigh of relief.

When he fainted the second time, he had felt quite regretful.

He feared this foolish woman might do something stupid again, dragging him somewhere else to sell him off a second time.

Luckily, she wasn’t too foolish—she managed to rescue him.

The only uncertainty was where exactly they were, and whether anyone had seen Tang Yi bring him back.

As he pondered, Tang Yi emerged from the bathroom wrapped in a bathrobe.

The door creaked softly as it was pushed open.

Her bathrobe was short, barely covering from her chest to the middle of her hips, leaving pale skin exposed above and below.

“You’re awake?” Perhaps surprised by how quickly Chu Tianfeng had woken, she hadn’t even worn underwear beneath the robe.

Chu Tianfeng was momentarily stunned. To be honest, Tang Yi’s figure was indeed remarkable—curvy and well-shaped—impossible not to notice.

Seeing him dazed, Tang Yi quickly tightened her bathrobe.

“Yeah.” Chu Tianfeng regained his composure, a faint blush coloring his face.

“Sorry,” Tang Yi approached the bed cautiously.

She kept her head lowered, her voice low, like a child who had made a mistake.

“Who are they?” Chu Tianfeng asked, irritated after being ambushed multiple times in one day.

First, two ability-users had attacked him, leaving him half-dead; then his own teacher had betrayed him; and finally, laughably, a few people with Cultivation Stage powers had kidnapped him.

People only at the Cultivation Stage dared to make a move against him—it infuriated him.

Tang Yi hesitated for a moment before answering, “They said they’re from the Tomb Robber Sect, at the Tianxiang Club.”

Tomb Robber Sect again!

A ruthless gleam flashed in Chu Tianfeng’s eyes. He had just finished dealing with the Salt Association and now the Tomb Robber Sect had reared its head.

It looked like they needed a proper lesson.

“They kidnapped your mother?” Chu Tianfeng asked again.

Tang Yi nodded, tears brimming in her eyes.

“My mother was walking in the campus yesterday evening when they took her,” she said, voice trembling.

Chu Tianfeng frowned slightly. “But I heard you were looking for me before.”

“They threatened to kidnap my mother a long time ago,” Tang Yi looked up at him. “If you want to take it out on me, you can kill me. But I beg you—if you kill me, please help me rescue my mother. Can you do that?”

“If I wanted to kill you, I would have done it already,” Chu Tianfeng said. He wouldn’t kill her, only curse her for being foolish in his heart.

“Then you…” Tang Yi’s eyes welled with tears.

Chu Tianfeng felt helpless and slowly sat up. “I need to heal. Don’t bother me.”

Suddenly, a chilly sensation ran through him, and he looked down.

What the hell?

His upper body was completely bare, while his lower half…

Well, thankfully, he was wearing underwear. As for certain other parts, they were intact.

Chu Tianfeng exhaled in relief.

“Sorry, all your clothes were ruined. I don’t have any men’s clothes here. I’ll buy some for you later,” Tang Yi said, noticing his panic, feeling a bit embarrassed.

“No need, I have clothes in my bag.” Chu Tianfeng looked around and then suddenly panicked, “Where’s my bag?”

“Is it a black shoulder bag?” Tang Yi asked.

He nodded.

He couldn’t afford to be careless; Xiya was still hidden in the bag. If a Martial Realm Master discovered it, it would be the end.

The few clothes in the bag were trivial; most of his clothes were stored in his ring, the bag’s contents merely a cover.

“It’s okay, I left it in the car,” Tang Yi said, drying her wet hair.

“Please bring it up for me. That bag is very important,” Chu Tianfeng said, folding his legs and closing his eyes slowly.

“Oh.” Tang Yi glanced weakly at him on the bed, then went to the wardrobe and carried several clothes out.

Chu Tianfeng’s injuries had actually healed by about half; his true energy in the dantian was mostly restored, though his internal organs were still injured.

Recalling the battle, he still felt a chill.

It was his first time fighting ability-users who looked like ordinary people, showed no signs of true energy, and struck without warning.

Fortunately, those two were inexperienced and hadn’t knocked him out; otherwise, the consequences would have been disastrous.

About half an hour later, Tang Yi returned to the door carrying the shoulder bag. “I made some noodles. Should I bring them in or…”

Chu Tianfeng shook his head. “I’ll get up to eat.”

He scanned the bag with his spiritual sense—nothing unusual.

After Tang Yi left, he dressed and took the bag, stepping out.

On the dining table were two bowls of noodles—one large and one small.

Tang Yi picked up the smaller bowl. “There’s only noodles here; we have to make do.”

“Where is this place?” Chu Tianfeng sat boldly at the table, dropping the bag by his feet.

He had scanned outside and didn’t feel like they were still on campus.

“It’s my mother’s old house,” Tang Yi said brightly, her eyes sweeping over his face. “Don’t worry, no one here knows about this place. It should be safe.”

Perhaps because he was very hungry or maybe the noodles were delicious, Chu Tianfeng ate quickly, finishing everything in a flash.

Tang Yi ate slowly, and if she ate a bit too fast, she would cough twice.

At first, Chu Tianfeng didn’t pay much attention, but after one cough, he noticed blood at the corner of her mouth.

He was startled and discreetly scanned her entire body with his spiritual sense.

After a moment, he withdrew it and quietly looked at Tang Yi.

“What’s wrong?” she asked, puzzled.

“You have internal injuries. I’ll help you check them in a couple of days,” Chu Tianfeng sighed.

Tang Yi’s lungs and internal organs were wounded. If untreated, it would leave chronic problems.

“You know medicine?” Tang Yi looked incredulous.

Chu Tianfeng nodded and continued, “About your mother, I’m sorry. But rest assured, I’ll do my best to help.”

After all, this was all because of him, and he wouldn’t shirk his responsibility.

Though he didn't know if Tang Yi’s mother was alive or dead, as long as there was hope, Chu Tianfeng would fight for it.

Besides, he was already familiar with the Tomb Robber Sect’s power. Whether it was their Tianhai branch or the Luoshi headquarters, Chu Tianfeng could easily take them down.

“Really?” Tang Yi looked at him tearfully.

“When I’m healed, I’ll go to the Tianxiang Club first,” Chu Tianfeng stood and picked up the bag. “I advise you not to go out these few days. There’s more than just the Tomb Robber Sect looking for me.”

Rescuing Tang Yi’s mother was his duty, but he wanted even more to wipe out the Tomb Robber Sect.

Lately, too many people had designs on him. It was time to strike hard and make an example.

“That’s great! Thank you!” Tang Yi cried with joy but then suddenly hesitated and asked, “You’re going out?”

“Yes. If I stay here, I might put you in danger,” Chu Tianfeng said wearily.

“It doesn’t matter—I’ve already been dragged into this because of you,” Tang Yi stood too. “There must be many people looking for you outside. You’re badly injured; where could you possibly go?”

Chu Tianfeng hesitated.

Indeed, he was seriously hurt and needed rest.

As Tang Yi said, she was already involved because of him—what worse could happen?

“Besides, you still want to help me with my injuries, right?” Tang Yi urged as she noticed his hesitation.

“Alright.” She had a point, and Chu Tianfeng could find no reason to refuse.

In the following days, he stayed indoors daily to heal.

Tang Yi became a homebody as well, venturing out only to buy essentials.

The room she occupied was likely her mother’s old room, similar in furnishings to Chu Tianfeng’s.

One day, feeling much better, Chu Tianfeng offered to treat her injuries.

Tang Yi cooperated, though she trembled several times when his large hands rested on her dantian.

The treatment went smoothly; her injuries were not severe. Perhaps the pale-faced man had only wanted to get rid of her, not kill her.

“Who… who exactly are you?” Tang Yi asked in surprise as Chu Tianfeng removed his hands.

Since being kicked by that pale man, she had suffered persistent abdominal pain and occasional chest tightness.

Chu Tianfeng had only placed his hands on her lower abdomen for about ten minutes, and the symptoms troubling her for days vanished completely—no wonder she was astonished.

“I’m your student,” Chu Tianfeng dodged the question.

He didn’t want to explain further.

“Alright.” Tang Yi forced a smile. “Since when did our academy become a medical school?”

They spent time together daily, growing familiar. Tang Yi’s tone was no longer cold and distant, and Chu Tianfeng no longer disliked her as before. They even joked occasionally.

“Aren’t you going back to the academy?” Chu Tianfeng shrugged, quickly changing the subject.

“Oh.” Tang Yi touched her forehead. “I almost forgot. Tomorrow is the centennial celebration. I have to prepare.”

She suddenly stood and rushed to the wardrobe.

Chu Tianfeng remembered the centennial celebration too.

“I might not be back tonight. Remember to take care of yourself. Cook the bone broth a bit longer,” she said loudly as she packed, like a wife reminding a forgetful husband before a trip.

“Yeah, I know,” Chu Tianfeng felt a warm current in his heart. “You be careful too.”

Perhaps they both found their situation amusing; he quickly turned his head toward the window.

Tang Yi quickly gathered a few clothes and left the room holding them.

“You be careful too,” she whispered outside the door, cheeks flushed.

Chu Tianfeng withdrew his spiritual sense, pretending not to have seen anything.

That night, Tang Yi indeed did not return. Chu Tianfeng didn’t mind and resumed his cultivation.

Tang Yi had prepared plenty of food for him: large bags of rice, noodles, vegetables, meat, and especially big bones for broth, considering his injuries.

It could be said that the food was enough for a week; he wouldn’t need to go out during that time.
