Chapter 132: One Command Summons the Great Wilderness, Lord of Mount Taiping!
“Great King!”
Hearing the thunderous cries from below, and seeing the silver-armored figure in midair bowing at the head of the ranks, Lu Wufei, high above the clouds, could not help sighing inwardly.
If someone is only a little stronger than you, you may compete with him, envy him, and finally work hard to surpass him.
If he is far stronger than you, you may admire and respect him.
But if his strength exceeds yours by an overwhelming margin—if every word and action of his can determine your status and even your life—then, apart from fear, reverence, and awe, nothing else will remain.
And if that person is your friend or brother, the bond between you will inevitably change as well.
Just as it had with Bai Yunxiao.
After witnessing Lu Wufei effortlessly defeat the Third Great King, transform into a colossal figure that supported the heavens, and kill both the Second and First Great Kings in a single strike, Bai Yunxiao’s image of him had been utterly overturned.
The sudden change in Lu Wufei’s cultivation and presence had become so immense and imposing that the shock in Bai Yunxiao’s heart was simply too great.
He would probably never again be able to treat Lu Wufei with the same ordinary attitude as before.
Lu Wufei understood.
But he could not help feeling a pang of regret.
Before this great battle, when Lu Wufei had suddenly appeared and Bai Yunxiao learned that his cultivation had leaped across an entire major realm, Bai Yunxiao had certainly been deeply shocked. Yet, because of his straightforward nature, though he no longer treated Lu Wufei quite as naturally as in the past, he had still remained more or less normal.
Now, however, it would probably be impossible for them to return to the way they had once been.
It was much like Lu Wufei’s relationship with Crow Monster, Redskin, and the others at the beginning.
They had started as equals and gradually reached their present positions.
Now the same was true of his relationship with Bai Yunxiao.
But Lu Wufei could do nothing about it.
This was simply a natural change that had accompanied the transformation of his cultivation.
“Great King.”
Looking at the demons below and listening to their loud cries, Lu Wufei frowned.
Although the voices were deafening, they contained no trace of fanaticism.
Lu Wufei had been born on Wavecrest Mountain. Though only a few of the demons who had once journeyed with him from the mountain forests of the countryside to Great Wilderness Mountain were still alive, the demons before him included several brothers who had risen alongside him from humble beginnings, the elder brother Bai Yunxiao who had once supported him, and several demon-general leaders he knew.
These demons would form the core of his rule over Great Wilderness Mountain.
Bai Yunxiao’s attitude had changed so drastically because he had witnessed Lu Wufei’s strength firsthand.
But the demons before him had all been taken into his Sleeve Universe earlier and had not seen his might.
Apart from the surviving demons of Peace Mountain, the others probably regarded Lu Wufei no differently from how they had regarded the former three Great Kings.
That would not do.
They were the demons of Wavecrest Mountain.
What Lu Wufei wanted from them was not merely the most basic obedience. He also wanted loyalty and fanaticism.
Only then could they serve him more effectively.
With that thought, he waved his hand once more.
The next moment, the demons felt the sky suddenly darken.
They widened their eyes and looked up, only to discover an enormous black hound demon descending from the heavens, its body vast enough to blot out the sky and sun.
Boom!
The nearly two-hundred-meter black hound crashed into the ground, unleashing a thunderous explosion.
Before the demons—whose eyes had already widened in utter astonishment—could say a word, a three-hundred-meter crow demon corpse and a giant ape corpse nearly five hundred meters in size, split in two, fell from the sky in succession.
Looking at those immense bodies and sensing the terrifying aura that still radiated from the grotesque corpses even after death, the lesser demons were completely stunned with shock and terror.
Before long, Lu Wufei swept up the frenzied demons of Wavecrest Mountain and flew toward the depths of Great Wilderness Mountain.
The wind roared violently at high altitude.
Looking toward the vast mountain range ahead, Lu Wufei asked, “Brother, how much do you know about the other two Great Kings?”
“For instance, how many generals do they command?”
“Where are their respective territories?”
“How many lesser demons serve beneath them?”
Flying beside Lu Wufei at the front of a vast white cloud, Bai Yunxiao shook his head with a smile.
“Little brother, you jest. After all these years, I know a fair amount about the Third Great King. But I truly know very little about the other two.”
“Still, each Great King has stewards under him. Once we summon them here, we can quickly learn everything we need to know.”
“Mm.”
Lu Wufei nodded.
The three demon kings of Great Wilderness Mountain had been killed by him. Even if the fox-demon ancestor had taken half of the territory, Lu Wufei would never relinquish what belonged to him.
For example, the various demon generals serving beneath the Great Kings.
They were all living demons.
He had seized half of Great Wilderness Mountain, and the territory was so vast that the nine hundred demons of Wavecrest Mountain could never hope to defend it alone.
This time, he would have to select a number of generals.
Of course, he would not accept just anyone.
Since the battle with Windcloud Ridge thirty years ago, Great Wilderness Mountain had seen no major conflict.
Lesser demons grew like grass. In addition, Great Wilderness Mountain was vast, and unless their growth was restricted, their numbers could multiply rapidly.
There were now countless demons throughout Great Wilderness Mountain.
He would have to choose carefully.
He would also need to consider which half of the mountain’s territory he wanted.
He had asked the fox-demon ancestor for three days precisely so that he could deal with these matters.
But the greatest wealth of Great Wilderness Mountain naturally lay in the three demon kings themselves.
Most important were their physical bodies and flesh. After that came the artifacts, treasures, spirit medicines, and similar items stored within their respective storage spaces.
The corpses of the three demons were already in his possession.
Compared with them, the other demons were far less important.
After all, so long as one possessed sufficient strength, lesser demons were like chives: cut down one crop, and another would grow. Given enough time, there would never be a shortage.
The fox-demon ancestor clearly understood this.
Nor had she coveted the corpses of the three demon kings in Lu Wufei’s possession. She had even yielded half of Great Wilderness Mountain’s territory, so naturally she cared even less about the lesser demons.
That was probably why she had agreed to give Lu Wufei three days.
Because they were insignificant to her.
But for Lu Wufei, who was becoming a Great King for the first time, those demons could save him a great deal of trouble.
Besides, they were spoils of war he had won through a life-and-death battle against the three demon kings. Why would he refuse them?
As he pondered, Lu Wufei led the demons of Wavecrest Mountain swiftly toward the heart of Great Wilderness Mountain.
Before long, a mountain appeared in the endless range ahead of him. It was impossibly vast, rising thousands of yards into the sky, majestic and soaring straight into the clouds.
“That highest mountain is where the Great Demon King lives, isn’t it?” Lu Wufei asked.
The towering peak stood conspicuously above all the surrounding mountains.
Bai Yunxiao’s eyesight was clearly inferior to Lu Wufei’s. He strained to see for a moment before finally making out the distant peak, then nodded.
“That is the place. The mountain is called Cloudreach Peak. I once accompanied the Third Great King there several times.”
“Cloudreach Peak.”
Lu Wufei nodded. After considering the name for a moment, he said, “From now on, that mountain has a new name. It shall be called Peace Mountain.”
Peace Mountain.
It was the name Lu Wufei had given the first territory he had ever received from the Third Great King.
Unfortunately, there had been little peace then.
Not long after taking control of the territory, he had encountered the death of the former supreme demon ancestor of Great Wilderness Mountain.
Then the Third Great King had summoned him in haste.
Barely a month later, Great Wilderness Mountain had gone to war with Windcloud Ridge once more.
After that, Lu Wufei had suffered the greatest blow and deepest despair since arriving in this world, when the old giant ape demon had forced him into a desperate situation.
Fortunately, he had encountered Yellow Wind Monster.
Whenever he thought of Yellow Wind Monster, Lu Wufei felt a trace of surprise. The demon had not continued protecting Great Wilderness Mountain.
At the time, Lu Wufei had heard clearly that the old demon had invited the ancestor himself.
No wonder Windcloud Ridge had suffered such a crushing defeat in that battle.
Yellow Wind Monster’s strength was beyond doubt. His signature divine ability, the Threefold Divine Wind, had even blown the Monkey’s eyes blind, causing him to suffer terribly and leaving him completely helpless.
With Yellow Wind Monster’s strength, ordinary demons could never have been his opponent.
Lu Wufei had no idea why he had left.
He shook his head and thought no further.
From now on, he intended to rename the half of Great Wilderness Mountain that belonged to him Peace Mountain.
“Yes.”
Bai Yunxiao nodded. “I’ll remember that.”
The wind howled beside their ears.
Before long, Lu Wufei led the demons of Wavecrest Mountain down upon the summit of Cloudreach Peak, bringing with him an overwhelming aura.
They landed in the broad plaza before a vast palace of carved beams and painted rafters.
The demons, female demons, and human maidservants who guarded and attended to the palace had already fallen prostrate beneath Lu Wufei’s terrifying presence. Their bodies trembled as they displayed complete submission, not daring to resist in the slightest.
Bai Yunxiao stepped forward.
He ordered the demons of Wavecrest Mountain to begin taking control of the former Great Demon King’s palace on Cloudreach Peak.
Before long, a voice rang out from the peak.
“I am the Lord of Peace Mountain. Your three Great Kings are dead. From this moment onward, every general and every steward who once served beneath the three Great Kings, no matter how far away, must come to Cloudreach Peak and await orders at the fastest possible speed after hearing this proclamation.”
“Those who disobey will die!”
The command was vast and icy. Centered on Cloudreach Peak, it spread swiftly in every direction, reaching throughout the entire region of Great Wilderness Mountain.
On Cloudreach Peak, Bai Yunxiao led the lesser demons beneath him in sweeping through the immense mountain from top to bottom.
Any demon who refused the order or would not submit was put to death.
The demons of Wavecrest Mountain also began truly occupying the entire Cloudreach Peak.
Lu Wufei, meanwhile, stood before a grand, luxurious palace of the kind that could ordinarily be seen only in a great human city.
Compared with the palace before him, the palace of the Third Great King that Lu Wufei had once visited was crude indeed.
A group of maidservants knelt on either side of the entrance.
With a single glance, Lu Wufei could tell that most of them were female demons who had taken human form, mixed among a small number of human women.
All were dressed in human clothing, their garments thin and light.
Lu Wufei’s expression remained calm and indifferent.
But the demons standing behind him were finding it difficult to remain composed.
When had they ever seen so many beautiful female demons and women?
Crow Monster in particular had widened his eyes, nearly drooling.
Redskin noticed this and immediately murmured, “Second Brother, wipe your mouth. Until Big Brother says otherwise, you are not to touch a single one of them!”
Crow Monster came to his senses, hastily wiped the corner of his mouth, and nodded.
“Of course. I’m not stupid. How could I compete with Big Brother for female demons?”
“Then again, with so many female demons, can Big Brother really make use of all of them?”
Huang Gui immediately joined in from the side.
“Second Brother, you don’t understand. Whether there are many female demons, or whether they are beautiful, they are not necessarily meant for sleeping with. They can also be displayed, to demonstrate Big Brother’s status.”
Crow Monster instantly expressed his disbelief.
“How do you know?”
“I asked around.”
“I don’t believe you. Beautiful female demons like these are extremely rare.”
“Both of you, shut up!”
Redskin lowered his voice again. “Do you think Big Brother can’t hear you?”
The moment Redskin said this, Crow Monster and Huang Gui immediately covered their mouths and fell silent.
Their Big Brother had returned with strength at the level of a Demon King. The three formerly exalted Great Kings had all died at his hands.
The fact left them stunned and unreal with disbelief.
At the same time, they feared him more and more.
Even General Bai Yunxiao had begun to act timidly and cautiously before Big Brother.
How much more so for them?
Although Big Brother had barely spoken to them, the reverence and awe in their hearts had already grown immensely.
Ahead, Lu Wufei gazed at the palace.
A rough plan for dividing half of Great Wilderness Mountain had already taken shape in his mind.
At the very least, the Cloudreach Peak beneath his feet and the palace before him would certainly be included in his territory.
With that thought, Lu Wufei stepped into the palace.
At the same time, in a spacious cavern somewhere within Great Wilderness Mountain—
“The three Great Kings are dead. From this moment onward, every general must come to Cloudreach Peak and await orders.”
A vast voice suddenly rang in the ears of a wild boar demon with a pig’s head and a humanoid body. He was three meters tall and had been greedily devouring large chunks of meat from a stone table before him.
His body immediately jolted.
“The Great King is dead?”
“All three Great Kings are dead?”
The boar demon widened his eyes, his face filled with disbelief.
But that voice—
The terrifying aura and energy contained within it—
Made it impossible for him not to believe.
“Anyone who hears this order must immediately go to Cloudreach Peak.”
A demon capable of cultivating to the level of a Demon Marshal could not possibly be foolish, no matter what his temperament was.
The words from the voice continued echoing in his mind as the boar demon’s expression shifted rapidly.
Very soon, the wild boar demon made his decision. He opened his great mouth, and all the meat before him instantly flew inside.
He then strode out of the cavern. Black smoke billowed beneath his feet as he flew toward the distant sky.
In another cavern within a different territory, two rat demons with rat heads and humanoid bodies were drinking and carousing, each holding a scantily dressed, voluptuous female demon in his arms.
When they heard the rolling voice beside their ears, they froze.
“The Great King is dead?”
“You heard it too?”
“Yes. The voice said that all three Great Kings are dead!”
“How is that possible?”
“The Great King was so powerful. He killed all five Great Kings of Windcloud Ridge!”
“How could the Great King possibly die?”
“Do you believe it?”
“I don’t know. But that voice…”
“What do we do?”
“If the Great King is fine, how could this voice have appeared?”
“Come on, let’s go see what happened.”
“We can’t defy the order. When the new Great King takes power, he’ll surely kill a few demons to establish his authority. We mustn’t put ourselves in his path.”
“Go, go! Hurry!”
With that, the two rat demons immediately abandoned the female demons in their arms.
They left the cavern and rode billowing black winds toward Cloudreach Peak.
At the same time, throughout Great Wilderness Mountain, everywhere Lu Wufei’s command reached, the territories erupted into turmoil.
Every great demon who heard it was shocked and horrified.
Apart from a few great demons with ulterior motives, most of the Demon Marshal generals made their choice. One after another, they set out toward Cloudreach Peak.
For a time, if one looked down from the skies over Great Wilderness Mountain, one would see vast clouds, smoke, and mists of blackness flying collectively toward the depths of the mountain region.
The sky gradually darkened.
Atop the majestic Cloudreach Peak, in the broad plaza before the enormous Cloudreach Palace, several demons with powerful and savage auras had already gathered.
They were the generals serving beneath the Great Demon King Yuan Zhang who lived relatively near Cloudreach Peak.
After hearing the proclamation, they had rushed to the summit at the first opportunity.
Now they stood gathered together, their faces anxious as they whispered among themselves.
The lesser demons guarding the area and standing before the palace gates were weak, far from being a match for the Demon Marshal generals.
Yet the generals dared only to remain standing in the plaza. At most, they spoke quietly to one another and did not dare move about freely.
They could sense the immense, oppressive aura permeating Cloudreach Peak—especially the terrifying source of power within the palace.
Even the normally lawless great demons, no matter how anxious they were, did not dare act rashly. They behaved as meekly as chickens.
Inside the palace, the lamps burned brightly.
Several female demons stood quietly on either side of the grand hall, attending to their duties. They wore thin gauze gowns, their figures graceful and alluring, their faces variously delicate, icy, or seductive.
Lu Wufei, dressed in a blue robe, sat before a long wooden table.
On one side of the table lay a map depicting the mountains, rivers, and terrain in precise detail.
On the other were exquisite dishes and fine wine.
A pretty maidservant knelt beside the table, quietly pouring wine.
Lu Wufei studied the map for a long while.
Then he reached out and drew a line across it, dividing the entirety of Great Wilderness Mountain into two.
