Chapter 110: Leviathan, the Wavebreaker

The outer shell of the Sea Moth is primarily made from a titanium-lead alloy. This material already grants it exceptional defensive capabilities.

However, the Sea Shrimp was crafted with even more extreme methods to possess defense stronger than the Sea Moth's, along with superior adaptability to various harsh environments.

As an underwater exploration vehicle, the Sea Shrimp completely forgoes swimming ability. It opts for a heavier and denser alloy combining titanium, lithium, and lead as its main structural material, infused with diamonds. Even its cockpit is constructed using highly durable glazed ceramic glass.

Due to the substantial weight of these materials, operators can only move the Sea Shrimp step by step along the seafloor, unlike the Sea Moth, which can swim freely through water.

Following the signal receiver of the Cyclops, Qin Fei piloted the Sea Shrimp to an incredibly flat plain. The depth here reached around 600 to 700 meters, with nearly no light penetrating from the surroundings. Even with the Tek Helmet’s night vision activated, Qin Fei could barely make out the environment within a radius of about one hundred meters.

As Qin Fei advanced, the Sea Shrimp emitted a warning tone.

“Damage to the seabed vegetation here indicates... this plain is likely a migration path of a massive life form.”

Upon hearing this, Qin Fei glanced down at his feet. The surrounding vegetation—both seaweed and coral reefs—bore clear signs of trampling. Occasionally, strange footprints appeared on the ground. These prints were roughly two to three times the width of a human footprint.

Perhaps due to the passage of time, these marks were not very distinct. Had it not been for the Sea Shrimp’s alert, Qin Fei might not have noticed them.

Looking at these footprints and the nearby flora, combined with the surrounding plain’s topography, Qin Fei deduced that these signs were likely left by the Wavewalker Leviathans.

Wavewalker Leviathans are a rare type of herbivorous leviathan species that live in groups, standing about 10 to 20 meters tall. They possess two legs and a large nose that rests on the ground to maintain balance. From a distance, they resemble giant crabs with three legs.

Being herbivores, they typically do not attack humans. Moreover, wherever Wavewalker Leviathans dwell, there are virtually no predators, making travel through these waters quite safe.

Guided by the Cyclops signal receiver, Qin Fei moved forward a short distance. Faint vibrations reached him from afar, accompanied by deep, bovine-like roars.

Upon hearing the bellowing, Qin Fei could confirm that the sounds were definitely produced by the Wavewalker Leviathans.

Sure enough, in the distance, a giant creature resembling a three-legged crab—with one "leg" in fact its nose—slowly approached Qin Fei.

But something felt off. These creatures were supposed to be social animals, yet only one was present. That was strange.

A few seconds later, Qin Fei seemed to realize something. He quickly reversed the Sea Shrimp’s course and began moving in the opposite direction of the Wavewalker.

As Qin Fei drove the Sea Shrimp forward, a ‘thud-thud’ sound came from behind.

That was the sound made when a Wavewalker runs.

It was chasing after Qin Fei!

At that moment, Qin Fei confirmed his suspicion:

The Wavewalker pursuing him had probably mutated due to exposure to the Tek liquid leaking from the Lost River.

Otherwise, as a herbivore, it would not have been so frenziedly chasing him.

The fact that it was alone suggested that after mutating, it had likely killed all its companions.

Like the Sea Shrimp, Wavewalkers can only run through water along the seabed; they cannot swim. If Qin Fei were piloting the Sea Moth, he could simply ascend to escape the Wavewalker.

However, without a pressure compensation module, the Sea Moth’s maximum diving depth is only 500 meters.

Here, the depth was between 600 and 700 meters.

The Lost River itself reached over 900 meters deep.

This was beyond the Sea Moth’s capability to dive, which is why Qin Fei had no choice but to pilot the Sea Shrimp in search of the Cyclops’ exact location.

The Wavewalker chased from behind, Qin Fei fled ahead.

But the mutated Wavewalker was slightly faster than the Sea Shrimp. Soon, using its two long legs, it caught up with Qin Fei.

Qin Fei could now clearly see the creature’s appearance.

The Tek liquid’s corrosion had ravaged much of its skin, turning it a strange dark purple color. Yellow-green spots covered its body, and from these spots, twitching tentacles occasionally emerged.

Suppressing his nausea, Qin Fei exited the Sea Shrimp and fired a magnetic orb from his stasis gun at the Wavewalker behind him.

The creature was instantly frozen in place by the orb.

But as it was trapped, its body began to tremble violently... and within seconds, it broke free from the magnetic hold.

The stasis gun’s effect lasted less than two or three seconds.

After some thought, Qin Fei quickly figured out why.

When he had previously used the stasis gun on two Phantom Leviathans, those creatures had not been corrupted by Tek liquid and thus had not mutated.

That was why the stasis gun could restrain them.

But for this Wavewalker, it was different.

Any organism infected by Tek liquid had its brain overtaken by a corruptive consciousness.

This corruptive consciousness was not an individual mind, but a vast collective intelligence, possessing wisdom comparable to or greater than humans.

The stasis gun’s effectiveness diminishes greatly when used against intelligent beings.

This explained why Qin Fei couldn’t keep the Wavewalker immobilized for long.

After briefly freezing the Wavewalker, Qin Fei fled to the edge of a cliff.

There was a sloping path descending from the cliff’s edge.

Qin Fei peered down. Below was utter darkness, faintly glowing with an eerie purple light that sent chills down his spine.

Because the Tek Helmet’s night vision had a limited range, Qin Fei could see nothing at the bottom of the cliff.

Seeing the Wavewalker closing in, Qin Fei had no choice but to drive the Sea Shrimp onto the sloping path.

The Wavewalker seemed determined not to let him escape.

When Qin Fei jumped onto the slope, the creature followed suit.

With the Wavewalker relentlessly pursuing him, Qin Fei was forced to steer the Sea Shrimp deeper into the chasm beyond the cliff’s edge.
