Chapter 119: You Are Truly Ugly!

Qin Fei walked over to it.
At that very moment, the fellow happened to spear a fish with its fork.
When it saw Qin Fei approaching, the fisherman immediately threw the fish onto the ground and hurried away.
“Hey! Don’t you want this fish anymore?”
Looking at the fisherman’s strange behavior and the fish it had abandoned on the ground, Qin Fei felt even more helpless.
He picked up the fish, stowed it in his backpack, and then walked into the Merman Village, stopping in front of what appeared to be the largest house there.
The house was more than four times larger than the other merman huts.
Generally speaking, houses of this size belonged to the village chief or some other important figure in the village.
Qin Fei pushed open the door and walked inside.
On one side of the wall near the entrance was an old photograph taken with a camera.
To Qin Fei’s astonishment, the picture showed a selfie of a fat man. He was smiling, with a chicken leg in one hand.
He was unbelievably obese. One glance was enough to tell that he was an absolute glutton.
In the very center of the house lay a gigantic merman, enormously fat and grotesquely bloated.
It stood nearly four or five meters tall, roughly twice the size of an ordinary merman.
The giant merman’s eyes were tightly shut. A crown rested on its head, and in its hand it held a golden fish fork.
It was dressed like a king.
Perhaps it really was the king of the mermen.
Surely this fellow wouldn’t be as foolish as those insignificant minnows outside...
Qin Fei took two steps forward and asked, “Excuse me, have you ever seen anyone who looks a lot like me?”
Hearing someone speak, the Merman King slightly opened a slit between his tightly closed eyelids and glanced down at Qin Fei.
After giving him a brief once-over, the Merman King closed his eyes again and ignored him.
Only after a long while did three words finally emerge from his mouth.
“You’re so ugly!”
Qin Fei flew into a rage.
It was one thing for the villagers in this place to be so idiotic, but how could their king be just as brain-dead? Did he not even know how to speak properly?
Qin Fei charged forward and violently snatched the golden fish fork from the king’s hands while he was pretending to sleep.
[Golden Fish Fork: A golden fish fork made from gold through the use of alchemy.]
Qin Fei placed the stolen fish fork into his backpack.
When the Merman King realized that Qin Fei had taken his weapon, he finally lost his earlier composure and began to panic.

He immediately shouted toward the doorway, “Guards! Guards!”
A few seconds later, four mermen wearing wooden helmets and carrying fish forks rushed into the house.
These four merman guards looked just as foolish and vacant. They kept shouting slogans about protecting the king as they jogged toward Qin Fei and surrounded him.
Qin Fei naturally felt no fear facing four mermen armed with wooden fish forks.
He glanced around the room. Then four tentacles extended from his chest and back, binding the four merman guards tightly.
Yet after being restrained by Qin Fei’s tentacles, the four guards actually relied on their sheer strength to tear the tentacles apart with brute force.
Qin Fei’s tentacles had no sense of pain and could regenerate, so such damage meant little to him.
But then the guard nearest to Qin Fei suddenly threw a punch.
The fist struck Qin Fei in the chest at an astonishing speed.
Bang!
The merman’s punch sent Qin Fei flying backward into the wooden wall. He crashed straight through it and landed outside the house.
What absurd strength!
Qin Fei lay on the ground, his face filled with alarm.
After being enhanced by the skill “Basic Constitution Enhancement,” his physical abilities had already reached twice those of an ordinary person.
Furthermore, the effect of the “Tek Serum” had caused his body to undergo a mutation, making his strength far beyond anything a normal human could possess.
And yet these bloated, thickset merman guards, who looked so dull-witted, had sent him flying with a single punch...
The combat power in this world of Don’t Starve was completely different from what he had imagined!
After being knocked outside, Qin Fei immediately scrambled to his feet and rushed over to Big Nose, flipping onto its back.
The four merman guards soon came after him.
Big Nose was clever. The moment it saw the situation, it quickly understood what was happening.
Without needing Qin Fei to say a word, Big Nose immediately charged away. Before long, it had escaped the merman village and fled into the surrounding swamp.
The guards possessed tremendous strength, but they were extremely slow.
They had barely taken a few steps in pursuit when Qin Fei disappeared from sight.
Having lost their target, they returned to the merman village...
Qin Fei rode Big Nose for less than a minute before leaving the swamp and arriving in a meadow.
It seemed that the merman village had been built right on the boundary between the swamp and the grassland.
After spending most of the day working his way through the merman village without gaining anything, Qin Fei saw that darkness was approaching. He built a campfire at the edge of the swamp, intending to light it and rest.
When spending the night in the world of Don’t Starve, one absolutely could not leave the vicinity of a fire after nightfall.

The terror of night in Don’t Starve was several times greater than that of any world Qin Fei had experienced before.
At night, anyone who moved away from the fire and fell into darkness would be attacked by monsters made from shadows.
These monsters were known as Shadow Creatures.
Because Qin Fei had been rather interested in the game Don’t Starve, he had once searched online for information about it.
The shadow monsters in Don’t Starve had been inspired by creatures from the Cthulhu Mythos.
Their terror did not lie in their individual strength.
It lay in their endless numbers and their uncanny ability to appear suddenly from the void.
In order to keep the fire burning through the night, Qin Fei decided to gather some fuel near the meadow.
Since he could not use a metal axe, he relied on his brute strength to tear several branches from a nearby tree with his bare hands.
After Qin Fei used flint to light the fire, night descended completely before long.
Night in the world of Don’t Starve was not an ordinary darkness. It was a blackness so absolute that one could not see one’s own hand, without even the faintest glimmer of light.
In the world of Don’t Starve, apart from nights with a full moon, there was usually no moon in the sky.
Naturally, there was no moonlight either.
Once the fire was burning, Qin Fei took the fish he had picked up during the day from his backpack and placed it beside the flames.
After it had been roasted, he casually tossed it to Big Nose, which was lying nearby.
As for himself, he took out the few breadfruit he had left in his backpack and began chewing on them.
It was not because Qin Fei was particularly kind to Big Nose, or because he was willing to eat vegetables himself while giving it the better food.
The main reason was that Qin Fei had spent nearly two months eating fish in the world of Subnautica...
At this point, he could hardly stomach another bite of fish.
He even felt nauseous at the sight of one.
After eating his fill, Qin Fei leaned against Big Nose’s body.
As time passed, drowsiness gradually overtook his mind.
He fell asleep...
It was midnight.
While Qin Fei lay beside the campfire, snoring away, an intensely black shadow suddenly appeared on the ground. Its shape resembled a withered, emaciated arm.
Under the glow of the fire, the shadowy arm began to creep slowly forward.
It was moving toward the campfire beside Qin Fei...
