Chapter 145: Porkopolis (Part Two)
Relying on Caesar Pig’s “special” status, Qin Fei and Xie Nainai each secured a seat at the banquet table.
This arrangement allowed Qin Fei not only to feast to his heart’s content but also to gather more intelligence related to the Pigman Kingdom during the banquet.
The aristocrats among the pigmen showed great reverence toward the dining ritual.
Throughout the meal, the Pig Mayor remained almost entirely silent.
Only once he felt completely satiated did he take out a small booklet from his bosom. At the same time, he motioned for the pig attendants standing on either side to withdraw.
Qin Fei stared silently at the booklet in the Pig Mayor’s hands.
He guessed that the Pig Mayor was about to announce Caesar Pig’s identity... and judging by how he dismissed the others, it was clear he did not want too many pigs to know about it.
Immediately, Qin Fei speculated.
Seeing the Pig Mayor’s secretive demeanor, could it be... that Caesar Pig was this fellow’s illegitimate son? Perhaps the small booklet was their family genealogy!
Thinking this, Qin Fei made every effort to remain silent, minimizing his presence.
This way, the Pig Mayor wouldn’t notice him and expel him from the banquet hall.
In truth, the Pig Mayor simply ignored Qin Fei and Xie Nainai altogether. After all, when discussing confidential matters, pigmen rarely bother guarding against their pets.
The Pig Mayor stood up, holding the booklet.
He approached Caesar Pig, suddenly dropping to one knee, presenting the notebook with both hands, and respectfully said, “Great Caesar Pig! Please have a look yourself!”
Huh?
Qin Fei was stunned by the Pig Mayor’s gesture.
Wasn’t this the scene of a father recognizing his long-lost piglet son?
What was going on?
Wasn’t that notebook their family genealogy?
Caesar Pig took the booklet handed by the Pig Mayor, looking bewildered as he flipped through it.
Judging by Caesar Pig’s expression, Qin Fei realized he probably didn’t understand the contents at all.
Qin Fei stepped forward and took the booklet from Caesar Pig’s hands.
Out of respect for Caesar Pig, the Pig Mayor did not stop Qin Fei’s seemingly rude action.
Qin Fei quickly skimmed through the booklet.
Like the prophecy notebook he had found on the Gluttony Continent, this booklet contained no written words. It was composed entirely of numerous illustrations.
The first page depicted the city of Pigbury.
Strangely, above Pigbury hovered a blood-red moon. Because of the moon, the city’s entire background was painted in this eerie crimson hue...
Seeing this, Qin Fei immediately thought of the great calamity in the game “Don't Starve.”
In the game, after the great calamity descended upon the Pigman Kingdom, the sky and moon turned this ominous blood-red color.
Qin Fei turned to the next page.
The second page showed Pigbury engulfed in flames.
Within the city, countless vampiric bats swarmed. At their center was a shadowy figure cloaked in red.
Wasn’t this the Ancient Herald, the ultimate boss that appeared in the Pigman Kingdom after the great calamity?
At this point, Qin Fei was nearly certain: the illustrations in this booklet were a prophecy of the day the great calamity would strike!
No wonder the Pig Mayor had everyone else dismissed first... If news of the impending apocalypse leaked early, Pigbury would descend into chaos.
But what connection did this prophecy have with Caesar Pig?
Qin Fei continued flipping.
The subsequent pages grew more intriguing.
Two humans and two pigs emerged in the illustrations.
These four appeared suddenly and fought a bloody battle against the Ancient Herald, ultimately vanquishing it. Afterwards, the blood moon disappeared, and peace was restored to the Pigman Kingdom.
The prophecy ended there—no continuation.
A classic tale of heroes battling evil and saving the world.
It was evident the two humans were Xie Nainai and Qin Fei.
As for the two pigs, one walked upright on two legs, the other moved on all fours. Clearly, they were Caesar Pig and Big Nose.
Enlightenment dawned in Qin Fei’s eyes.
Now he understood why the Pig Mayor treated Caesar Pig with such reverence.
The protagonists of the Pigman Kingdom were pigmen themselves.
Naturally, upon receiving this booklet, the pigmen instinctively regarded the Caesar Pig portrayed within as the great hero destined to save the entire kingdom.
In truth, Qin Fei couldn’t care less who the pigmen favored.
For him, the important thing was to complete the task according to the prophecy.
Who ended up hailed as hero, who saved the Pigman Kingdom—those were not his concerns.
Moreover, this booklet bore a striking resemblance in style to the pigmen mural near the Ancient Gate and the prophecy notebook Qin Fei had found on the Gluttony Continent.
All three were painted by the same pig.
And that pig was likely hiding somewhere within the Pigman Kingdom.
If Qin Fei could find this “Prophet Pig,” perhaps he could uncover more clues about the great calamity...
This would greatly aid his mission, allowing him to complete it faster and more smoothly.
Qin Fei returned the booklet and straightforwardly asked the mayor, “May I ask who gave you this booklet?”
The Pig Mayor did not answer directly.
He tapped Qin Fei with his hoof, then beckoned toward the outside of the banquet hall.
After a moment, a pig attendant brought in a bunch of bananas.
The Pig Mayor took the bananas and waved them teasingly in front of Qin Fei, speaking kindly, “Little monkey, would you like some bananas?”
...
Damn it!
Qin Fei took a deep breath, trying hard to calm himself. You’re just a pig; I won’t hold it against you...
“Bang!”
Xie Nainai, unable to suppress herself, stood up and slammed the table, her hair bristling as she shouted, “Are you out of your mind...?”
Before she could finish, Qin Fei squeezed her palm, signaling her to sit back down and hold back her anger.
Qin Fei then approached Caesar Pig with a serious expression, repeating his earlier question to the Pig Mayor.
At the end, he gave a thumbs-up and pointed at Caesar Pig, saying, “This is Caesar Pig’s meaning!”
That phrase worked like a charm.
Upon hearing this, the Pig Mayor turned to Caesar Pig.
Seeing no denial from him, the mayor promptly replied, “This booklet... was given by the Royal Capital!”
The Royal Capital?
After the Pig Mayor’s explanation, Qin Fei learned that, just like in the game, the Pigman Kingdom had a capital city—the Royal Capital. The Pigman Queen Mafalafa and the Pig King resided in the central district of this city.
The prophecy booklet in the Pig Mayor’s hands was distributed by the Pig King himself.
Its purpose was to find, before the great calamity arrived, the pig warrior foretold who could end the catastrophe.
