Imperial Capital National Stadium, the vast arena had been exclusively reserved for an entire week by Fuyun Technology Group from Jiangnan Province, serving as the venue for their new product launch. From December 1st to December 7th, precisely one week, the stadium was theirs.

Nicknamed the “Bird’s Nest,” the Imperial Capital National Stadium was immense, spanning 21 hectares, with more than 90,000 seats inside—enough to accommodate over 100,000 people.

On the morning of December 1st, at nine o’clock, outside the Bird’s Nest, the world’s major media outlets had already gathered, anxiously waiting at the entrance. Since Fuyun Technology’s launch event was fully open to the public, any tourist or individual could attend. Moreover, it was the peak of the tourism season, and countless visitors to the capital considered the Bird’s Nest a must-see attraction. Now, encountering Fuyun Technology Group’s new product launch, curiosity naturally drew many to join, eager to see what new marvels would be unveiled. At each entrance, lines of more than 2,000 people stretched long, waiting to enter.

“Fuyun Technology Group? I’ve never even heard of them. Hosting their product launch in the Bird’s Nest—are they just trying to attract attention? Otherwise, why allow everyone to enter and experience?”

“World-changing technology, epoch-making products! They say nothing, only boast such grand claims. Isn’t this just a publicity stunt? Even the Fruit Company wouldn’t dare make such bold slogans.”

Zhang Lei looked at the long queue, and then at the massive advertisement and logo of Fuyun Technology Group displayed above the Bird’s Nest. He couldn’t help but shake his head and speak to his friend, Li Qiang.

Both Zhang Lei and Li Qiang were students at a university in the capital. Taking advantage of the National Day holiday, they planned to visit the city’s major attractions; the Bird’s Nest, as an iconic landmark, was not to be missed. Thus, they happened upon Fuyun Technology Group’s new product launch.

“I just searched Fuyun Technology Group,” Li Qiang said, holding his phone and reading the information he’d found. “You know, this company is quite remarkable. Maybe they really do have something extraordinary.”

“Remarkable? Tell me, just how remarkable are they?” Zhang Lei’s interest was piqued, and he hurried over to look.

“The founder of the company is Li Fu, the renowned student from Yanhuang University who pioneered a new field in biotech viruses and developed medication for AIDS. He’s this year’s Nobel Prize winner in Physiology or Medicine.”

Li Qiang smiled as he read out the information. Fuyun Technology Group’s reputation paled compared to Li Fu’s, so talking about the company always revolved around its founder.

“So, the new product launched this time is likely related to biotechnology. Could it be another new drug for treating diseases? If it’s just a new medicine, there’s no need for such a grand venue like the Bird’s Nest—it’s a waste of money without much impact.”

Zhang Lei frowned as he pondered. He knew Li Fu’s renown well.

“I don’t know. Fuyun Technology hasn’t revealed anything, but judging by their advertisements, it’s probably something extraordinary. After all, Li Fu managed to develop medicine for AIDS; anything else wouldn’t be surprising.”

Li Qiang shook his head, his curiosity now thoroughly piqued.

At nine-thirty, the entrances to the Bird’s Nest opened right on schedule. The long-waiting crowd began streaming in, eager to see what epoch-making technology Fuyun Technology Group would unveil.

Soon enough, Zhang Lei and Li Qiang entered the Bird’s Nest. The stadium’s vastness was striking, its center a massive arena capable of hosting football, athletics, and many other events. Now, the central area had been transformed by Fuyun Technology Group into a fantastical, science-fiction themed venue.

At the center stood a large, temporary stage. Around the perimeter, many employees in Fuyun Technology Group uniforms stood smiling, each beside a table displaying various items—some resembling phones, others headbands, and some like watches.

Rows of seats were neatly arranged, clearly prepared for reporters and visitors. Early arrivals rushed to occupy seats at the front, especially journalists, eager not to miss out. Cameras and broadcasting equipment were set up, all aimed at the stage’s center. Some reporters were already live, ready to break the news of Fuyun Technology Group’s new products.

Others, seeing seats were scarce and their own positions would be farther back, chose instead to wander the stadium and observe.

“Hey, miss, are these the new products from Fuyun Technology?” Zhang Lei and Li Qiang, unable to secure seats, wandered around, curiously examining the items on the tables beside the company employees.

“Yes, gentlemen,” the employee, a young woman, replied politely.

“Could you introduce them to us, or let us try them out?” Li Qiang looked closely at the items. They seemed familiar, yet strange—a phone without a screen, a watch without hands or a display, and a headband whose purpose was entirely unclear.

“I’m sorry, gentlemen, I can’t reveal anything yet, nor let you try them. Only after the official start, when our company leaders permit, will you be able to experience our new products.”

She smiled apologetically. Zhang Lei and Li Qiang shrugged helplessly; even now, the company was keeping its secrets. It was pure suspense.

“These few items are supposed to be epoch-making products? Their claims are sky-high,” Zhang Lei muttered in dissatisfaction, loud enough for the nearby employee to hear. She only smiled, her expression brimming with confidence.

“Let’s wait a bit longer. The official event starts at ten. I wonder what these things are for; they all seem curiously enigmatic to me,” Li Qiang said, glancing at the time. It was almost ten o’clock.

At ten, everyone, whether debating or speculating, turned their attention to the stage. Fuyun Technology Group's CEO, Fang Zheng, dressed in a black suit and smiling, walked onto the stage.

“Thank you all for attending Fuyun Technology Group’s new product launch. This event will run until December 7th—a full week for everyone to get acquainted with and understand our epoch-making technology.”

Fang Zheng bowed to the audience, confidently emphasizing the significance of their products.

“I know you’re all eager, so I’ll keep it brief and move straight to today’s theme. I now hand over the hosting duties to Ms. Qin Mengyao.”

With his words, a young woman in a white dress stepped onto the stage. She was a recent graduate, newly hired by the company, and previously a renowned university host—now entrusted with this important task.

“Thank you, Fang Zheng, for the opening remarks. Now, let me introduce our new product.”

Qin Mengyao, tall and smiling, took over, as a large screen began playing a video.

“According to the latest statistics, there are nearly 3,000 blind people globally; in China alone, about five million suffer from blindness. If we include those with vision-impairing eye diseases, over 200 million worldwide are affected.”

“In their world, there is no light, no color. They cannot live independently, nor find a dignified job. Their world is like an endless abyss of darkness.”

As the narration played, the video depicted the lives of blind individuals. The audience fell silent. Humanity may sometimes be selfish, but in sympathy for the vulnerable, all are united. Some with blind relatives silently shed tears.

The video vividly portrayed the tragic reality: a world without light or color, only darkness, navigated by sound and touch. Unable to work, unable even to care for themselves, many strong-willed individuals could not bear it and chose to end their own lives.

The short video powerfully set the atmosphere. The audience was silent, many secretly guessing that Fuyun Technology Group had invented a new technology to restore eyesight.

“Now, please welcome the renowned blind musician, Sun Yan!”

As the video ended, Qin Mengyao’s voice rang out again.
