As the screen flickered, the assassin Kashu began to run swiftly forward. A series of forks appeared in the road ahead, and he dashed into one of the paths.
As he advanced, he reached a pond at the end of the path.
Without a moment's hesitation, Kashu leaped down.
Bubbles surfaced, and the screen shifted to a deep blue hue.
The image blinked and went completely dark. After a brief pause, images slowly came into focus from the four corners.
It was a secluded street, flanked by grayish-white public buildings. There were very few pedestrians, only the occasional passing vehicles.
On the sidewalk, two children were laughing and playfully chasing each other, one holding a colorful windmill.
"Catch me, and I’ll let you play my new game for three days!" the child in front turned around, made a silly face, and dashed away.
The other child, hearing the offer, lit up with excitement and hurried to chase his companion.
After just a few steps, his shoe slipped on a smooth small stone, throwing him off balance.
He stumbled forward, almost crashing to the ground. Suddenly, a large hand reached out from the side and firmly pulled him back.
"Are you alright?"
The child, still shaken, gasped for breath.
"I'm fine, thank you, sir!"
The man in a suit nodded, and after the child expressed his gratitude several times, he left with his returning companion.
The tall man watched their retreating figures, slowly turning back to reveal a weathered yet handsome face.
It was, in fact, the assassin Kashu.
He glanced up at the bright sky and leaned back against a lamppost. With a flick of his right hand, he tossed a cigarette into his mouth. From his pocket, he pulled out a TG lighter, and with a click, a flame flickered to life.

Kashu was gradually enveloped by swirling smoke.
"Kashu felt a deep melancholy; he had just anonymously sent a letter to the post office. Inside was nothing but a blank piece of paper and the wedding ring of Rayya."
"He had initially wanted to deliver the ring in person, but he needed to find his daughter first. Furthermore, the Relic Organization might be tracking him, and Kashu did not want to bring danger and trouble to innocent people involved."
After a brief pause, the subtitles changed.
[Location: Xilang Street]
[Time: June 14, 2017, 11:59]
"Having learned from the last incident, Kashu understood who his adversary was. Now, he needed to acquire a significant sum of money in a short period. An old friend from over a decade ago called him just then..."
"Your car will arrive at twelve."
Before long, a black sedan slowly approached. The car had a smooth overall shape with delicate silver patterns etched along its edges, understated yet elegant.
At the front, a silver moon emblem stood proudly, accompanied by a string of light golden text.
"Prometheus Moonlight."
The front window rolled down, revealing a scarred man in sunglasses who turned to Kashu on the roadside and called out.
"Hey, Knight, get in."
This Knight was not just any knight; it referred to a well-known series of firearms, all named after knights. Back in the day, members of the Golden Gyro Organization had code names based on their firearms.
And Kashu's firearm codename was Knight.
"J, you came to pick me up?"
Kashu expressed surprise; J was originally one of his clients. Over the past decade, J's gray industry had flourished, expanding into several companies and rising to become a big boss.
Their statuses had long since become unequal.
"What, not happy?"
J removed his glasses and smiled. The scar on his left cheek twisted, giving him a fierce, cold appearance.
"A big boss driving me around—how could I complain?"
Kashu flicked the cigarette butt into a trash can, opened the car door, and smoothly settled into the back seat.
The car started and slowly moved forward.
Kashu then noticed another person in the spacious leather seat, a glamorous woman.
She had cascading golden hair that waved over her shoulders, with delicate features and fair skin.

She wore a fitted red dress that outlined her curves perfectly.
This was undeniably a seductive beauty.
Noticing Kashu's gaze, the woman responded with a flirtatious smile and began to introduce herself.
"Mr. Knight, hello. I am Mr. J's personal secretary; you can call me Rose." She slightly leaned forward, revealing her ample cleavage.
Rose? More like a dazzling red rose!
Kashu found himself a bit flustered for a moment but quickly regained his composure.
No reason to dwell; just a familiar hand.
On the screen, Kashu nodded, focusing straight ahead.
J, driving, spoke in a raspy voice.
"Knight, by now you should understand the game you are about to play. As an old friend, I’m giving you one last chance to choose..."
"J is asking you one last time if you wish to join."
Option A: No need for idle talk; my decision is final.
Option B: The more serious you sound, the more excited I become.
Well, the system didn't really give me a choice.
On the screen, Kashu leaned back against the seat: "The more serious you sound, the more I look forward to this game."
With a snap of his fingers, J burst into laughter.
"Just as I expected, Knight. I've always believed you were cut out for this line of work! It’s a pity you retired so early; it’s been twelve years..."
"But thankfully, you’re back in the game."
J's tone carried a hint of regret, as if lamenting that a talent like Kashu had wasted his time away from the dark side.
"If I could, I wouldn’t want to get involved again. But fate just didn’t give me that chance..."
Kashu blinked, looking out the window. Rows of ornamental trees sped by, blurring into a mass of gray-green shadows.
"Are you still thinking about those faded days, like birds? Come on, Knight! Just look at how I’m living now! Cigars, luxury cars, villas, beauties—what more could a man want? Men should always look forward!"
